Week 6 for our contestants of The Biggest Loser begins with a temptation. If the contestants eat a slice of cake they have a chance to win $2,300 dollars. No one gives in. A note is slipped under the door – eat the cake and have a 1 in 2 chance to win the money. Once again, willpower wins out over greed, and no one eats the cake.
This episode, interestingly enough, focused quite a bit on Mark. After his big loss last week, Mark has become an exercise machine – working out up to 5 hours a day. He’s taken on quite a confident – come on, let’s say it – a cocky attitude. He’s going to blow everyone away at the weigh in. He’s going to be the biggest loser that week. Then again, pride and arrogance can be anyone’s downfall.
This arrogance could perhaps be the reason the women selected Mark to participate in the challenge – climbing up and down steps (2,280 in all) ten times at Universal Studios Florida. One person from each team would compete – the winner got $5,000 to share with their teammates. The men picked Andrea, thinking she’d be a pushover. Little did they know this actually fueled Andrea’s competitive desire to kick butt. And kick butt she did! She easily beat Mark in the challenge.
The winner of this week’s challenge would get the opportunity to pick who on the Red team would sit out the weigh in. The women picked Seth and made a good choice in doing so because he lost 10 pounds. However, the men easily beat the women’s percentage of weight loss, thus leading to the third loss in a row for the women at the weigh in.
The women chose Jen to leave the show. She was putting up large numbers in terms of pounds lost, but not in percentage lost. When we looked in on Jen today, she has lost a total of 72 pounds and is well on her way to a healthier life with her family.
