Ashley Hamilton and Macy Gray are eliminated from Dancing With The Stars tonight
Tonight’s results show for Dancing With The Stars started with a great encore performance from Kelly and Louis. It was just as great tonight as last night, although it appeared they did the lift full on at the end. Take that Carrie Ann! This was followed by a recap of last night’s show. Ho hum. There are sixteen couples on the show – elimination announcements should take a bit of time. This is what I want to hear!
I don’t have to wait too long – the men are up first in terms of elimination. Before the commercial break we find out that Louie and Chelsie and Aaron and Karina are safe.
Sean Kingston performed next, accompanied by some dancers that were obviously not the pros from the show. I have always had an issue when dancers are brought in to perform. The pros on the show are so great – they should be given the opportunity to showcase their talents. Nothing personal for these dancers, but come on. I think the very talented pro cast of the show could very easily perform as well, and probably better, than the dancers who accompanied this musician.
A bit about the “losers club” was on next, featuring a few of the celebrities who were the first to be eliminated on the show. Kenny Mayne, Penn Jillette and Jeffrey Ross made light of the fact that they were the first ones to be eliminated in their respective seasons. An elimination announcement followed. We find out that Mark and Lacey, Chuck and Anna, and Donny and Kym are safe.
The surprise of all surprises happened at about 8:22 pm. The producers of the show made an elimination announcement without teeth being pulled. We find out that Ashley Hamilton is going home. It’s too bad to see him go. While he wasn’t the best dancer in the group he had overcome some major physical challenges and obstacles to be there.
In a shameless, self promoting action, we get to see the world premier of the new Miley Cyrus video. I took the opportunity to go and get a drink, knowing I wouldn’t miss anything.
After commercials we return to find out that Natalie and Alec and Mya and Dmitry are safe. There’s a funny bit with Adam Carolla giving the men a pep talk in the dressing room. At the end Ashley Hamilton was a good sport, pretending to cry and tell Adam he was sorry for letting him down. This is followed by the Macy’s Stars of Dance, featuring a performance by the cast of Broadway’s The Lion King. It was good but all I could think about was how difficult it must have been to perform in so small a space.
Following commercial break we find out that Melissa and Mark, Joanna and Derek, and Debi and Maks are safe. This is followed by a beautiful tribute to Patrick Swayze, featuring some of the current season pros. I had forgotten that he helped out John O’Hurley in Season 1 when John was training for the freestyle routine in the finale. Swayze helped him with lifts.
After a pretty good results show we find out that the second celebrity to be eliminated from the show is Macy Gray. It wasn’t too surprising. She seemed to be very likeable but her dancing was pretty lacking.
If all the results shows are as good as this one for this season, then I won’t have very much to complain about on Tuesday nights!
