Big Brother 8: Season Premiere
There is a new twist to this year’s Big Brother. Three housemates will be forced to live with someone that is a rival, an enemy, or someone they have unfinished business with. The eleven housemates introduced were Nick (a former pro football player from Minnesota), Eric (a talent management assistant), Daniele (a waitress), Jen (a nanny), Mike (a paint contractor), Kail (a business owner), Joe (a receptionist), Carol (a student), Amber (a single mom/cocktail waitress), Zach (a graphic designer), and Jameka (a school counselor). The three that no one knew about until the end of the show were Jessica (a student/rival of Carol), Evil Dick (the estranged father of Daniele), and Dustin (ex-boyfriend of Joe). It seems that no one was happy to see the “secret” houseguests and Joe tried to get them to promise to eliminate the three first before they started eliminating any of the original eleven. There is definitely bad blood between him and Dustin. I won’t even mention the gonorrhea reference.
The HOH was determined through partnerships, although Nick was left out in the cold and couldn’t compete. One partner answered questions about the houseguests, while the other sat on a spinning mushroom. Not sure what the whole “Alice in Wonderland” theme is about this year, but if a question was answered incorrectly, the mushroom spun faster. If a houseguest fell off, both were eliminated from the competition. Eric didn’t want to be HOH and tried to throw it, but he was unsuccessful. He and Kail won. The three “secret” houseguests go to choose from the two who would be HOH. They gave it to Kail since she was the won that actually stayed on the mushroom.
Another twist to this season was the “America’s Player” houseguest. We found out this would be Eric. He will take instructions from viewers and for each 10 requests of things to do in the house he will receive $10,000. This is an interesting twist – I am curious to see how this works out.
