Biggest Loser Couples: Bette-Sue and Ali are Eliminated

This was just a big week for surprises and game play. Last week, the teams were told to pick the one team they would choose to send home if they could. There were two votes for black, two for purple, and two for yellow, with Pink’s vote being the deciding vote. They chose yellow. But, Allison told them this didn’t mean Paul and Kelly were going home. It only meant that for this week only, it would be all against one for the challenge and at the weigh-in. If the percentage of Paul and Kelly’s weight loss was less than the combined total of the other six teams, they would leave. But, if they had the higher weight loss percentage, they would choose which team would leave.

Kelly was pissed, but Paul was really fired up, putting on his martial arts gi. I’ve never seen him so focused on winning. Yellow got to choose their own trainer, so knowing she loves to win, they chose Jillian. Bob trained the other teams. Also, as team of the week, Paul and Kelly got to choose between luxury, family, or game play. Kelly wanted to choose family or luxury, but Paul insisted on game play and it was a good one – 2 pounds at the weigh-in of their choice.

The challenge was for a team member to walk down a balance beam (over the pool) and retrieve peg, then walk back and put it in the board. Whoever got all 12 pegs first would win. Again, it was all against one, which meant each person on each team would go least once. But, since Paul and Kelly were alone, they could split the work up as they saw fit, as long as each went at least once. Paul was so focused; he went 11 times, having Kelly make the last run. She was nervous, but did well and they finished well before the other teams. The reward was letters from home, but Paul and Kelly altruistically decided to give the other teams the reward. I thought it was sweet, but maybe it was just game play.

And after that, the real game play started. Orange went to yellow, telling them they wanted to form an alliance. Then, purple, and blue jumped on the bandwagon. The plan was to throw the challenge so that yellow could vote off the black team. I hate when people decide to mess with the show like this, instead of playing it straight up. Bob knew something was up and cautioned them to let him know what was happening because he didn’t want to look like an idiot. If they made him look like one, he threatened to rip their heads off (I love Bob!).

Of course, no one mentioned it to Bob and at the weigh-in, they were given yet another surprise. The team with the highest percentage would be Team of the Week, but instead of choosing their reward, they would be given immediate immunity. Ouch, that threw a monkey wrench into the plans. Most everyone did well, except purple and orange. Maggie and Jennifer have not been losing a lot of weight anyhow, so their combined 10 was not much of a shock. But when Jackie and Dan, who had always put up good numbers, lost a combined total of 3 pounds, I thought Bob was going to literally rip their heads off. Black knew what was going on, but with a percentage of 4.64, they were the winners and got immunity.

Bette-Sue was obviously ticked off. Orange came into to talk to Paul and Kelly and said they think pink should go. And go they did – Paul and Kelly voted off Bette-Sue and Ali. Kelly kept apologizing, but Bette-Sue told her to “just stop,” that she was not a good loser.

It showed Ali and Bette-Sue afterwards. Bette-Sue came to the camp weighing 261 and it down to 212 (49 pounds). Ali came in at 234 and is down to 173, losing 61 pounds.

Next week, there will not longer be a team eliminated, but an individual.
