Biggest Loser Couples: Paul Goes Home

Tonight saw the contestants go home and struggle with eating properly and working out. Bernie had a cupcake named after him that he could only smell. Speaking of smelling, Roger smelled French fries while Jay only touched them, saying they felt great. Dan played dodge ball with Jackie and the kids they work with in their after school program. Mark kept chasing his boy around the house, throwing his donuts away.

Once they got back to the campus, Jillian chastised Paul for not answering her calls. Kelly even told Jillian Paul knew it was her, but not answering. He ate chicken wings while home and drank at least one coke. Over on the Blue Team, Dan admitted to one glass of wine – which was filled twice. He tried to get out on a technicality, but Bob caught him.

As the Biggest Loser Player of the Week last time, Paul won a lifetime membership to 24 Hour Fitness. The challenge was to alternate jumping rope and bending under it. Mark, Kelly, and Paul sat out and eventually, everyone else broke the line to eliminate themselves except Jay and Brittany. I was pulling for Jay because Brittany is getting on my nerves, but she won. The Black Team’s win meant they could choose two people from the Blue Team to weigh in a day early. They chose Roger and Dan.

It turns out that the win was really not a good thing. Dan lost 11 and Roger lost 16. When the regular weigh-in came around, the Blue Team just blew the Black Team away. They lost almost triple the weight. Mark lost 13 and Jay lost 16, betting his big brother for the first time. It also meant he was the Biggest Loser Player of the Week.

The Black Team needed to lose 60 pounds – I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Maggie lost 6, which is pretty good for her. Bernie lost a dismal 5, followed by Brittany’s even sadder 3 pound loss. Kelly lost 7, which is good for her and despite eating chicken wings, Paul lost 5 pounds.

Kelly and Paul have always felt like outsiders with the Black Team, so at the elimination ceremony, Paul wore his yellow shirt. He told Alison that he never felt like a part of the Black Team, which ticked off Brittany. However, he mentioned he and Kelly were outsiders and he knew the others would gang up and vote one of them off. Although they all denied not being a team, guess what happened? Bernie, Brittany, and Maggie all voted for Paul. So they ended up doing exactly what he accused them of. I am sure if they fall below the yellow line next week, Kelly is out, but the Blue Team is looking mighty strong. Eventually, the Blue Team might have to start eating their own to survive.

Paul went home and gained six pounds, but it was because he caught double pneumonia. He is back on track to lose weight for the finale.

I’m not surprised he caught double pneumonia, with the things they make them do on that show. That thing about the attempted technicality on the “one” glass of wine filled twice is hilarious, though. Isn’t there something in the questions for Alcoholics Anonymous about how if you tried to “control” your drinking and couldn’t stick to the chosen limit….

I agree with the pneumonia comment Oakling. They do work the contestants hard, but the it seems, at least in my area of the country, that pneumonia has been going around.
