Billy Ray calls out Bruno; Apolo breaks out on DWTS
I don’t know about what everyone else thinks, but something needs to be done about Len Goodman. I’m beginning to think that he’s being disagreeable just for the sake of being by himself and not part of the crowd. He’s a crotchety old man. And did anyone else notice him look at his watch after Billy Ray and Karina’s mambo? As if he has somewhere more important to be. Dancing with the Stars is your paycheck Mr. Goodman. It doesn’t matter what time it is – you’re stuck there until the end of the show.
While I am on my tirade about the judges, how about Billy Ray calling out Bruno. After his foxtrot I was just appalled that Bruno called it crap. That’s really not a fair comment. He knows he is not the best dancer left in the competition, all the viewers know he is not the strongest dancer, as do the judges and the other competitors. He needs to take a page from Carrie Ann’s book and try to find the positive aspect of his performance. At first Billy Ray was a gentleman about it, telling Bruno that saying he was crap was the pot calling the kettle black. But after the Mambo you could really see Billy Ray’s displeasure come to the surface.
Now about the dances.
Ian and Cheryl. I did not like their foxtrot tonight. To me it seemed as if Ian had choreographed the fun and enjoyment he portrayed during the performance. His rumba, on the other hand, was really good in my opinion. I didn’t feel as if he was fake at all, and his performance was subtle and great. I disagreed with the judges and their scores of the rumba as I thought it deserved better.
Joey and Kym. For such harsh criticism of their waltz, the judges gave them pretty good scores. Bruno and Carrie Ann criticized him for not being Joey, but I think his performance was a great strategy. He’s showing everyone that he can be serious about his dancing. His mambo was all out fun and in that performance he showed his natural personality. The music was a bit distracting to me, since I never thought I would se a mambo performed to the Black Eyed Peas.
Billy Ray and Karina. I think it was obvious that Billy Ray is working as hard as he can to put out good performances. He may be talented as an actor and a signer, but dancing is not his strong point. I think he showed enormous restraint with dealing with Bruno and his comments. I would have probably said something that would have required the network censor to utilize the two second delay to bleep out my comments. Unfortunately he is the weakest dancer left in the competition and probably will be eliminated tomorrow. Having the lowest scores will harm him, no matter how many fans call and vote for him.
Laila and Maks. I think Laila was happy to have her father in the audience, but I also think it impacted her performance. She was so trying to do well for him that I think she tried too hard and didn’t let her natural abilities come out. Her waltz was nice, but not outstanding. Her jive was good but I think she was afraid of being too sexy. Her costume was way toned down compared to what the producers usually have the women wear when performing the jive. All in all I think she had too many outside factors on her mind to give the performance she needed to give to be the leader.
Apolo and Julianne. What is Len’s problem with this couple? I think Julianne is probably the best female dancer in the competition, and she is also the best choreographer. I think perhaps Len is jealous of her and her ability at such a young age. Len criticized the tango as lacking passion and drama. Hello, you have them perform to Rick Springfield’s “Jesse’s Girl” which to most people is not the first song you associate with the tango. Plus the song is about unrequited lust, not about mutual love or affection. Their paso doble, on the other hand, was so amazing that I could feel the power of the performance through the television screen. Finally this couple got the recognition they deserved with a perfect score.
The elimination tomorrow night will most likely be between Ian and Cheryl and Billy Ray and Karina. I suspect that Billy Ray’s time on DWTS has probably come to an end. However, maybe we can see him and Bruno on Celebrity Deathmatch.

I agree with you, the judges are just too taken with their “power” and have forgotten that the performers are just that, performers, and not ballroom dancers. I think Billy Ray could take both Bruno and Len with one hand tied behind his ponytail!
