Brenna and Kinnik should get the boot
For the ladies this week, it seemed to be all about bad song choices. We heard them sing songs by such divas as Carey, Summer, and Midler. What, no one could find a Streisand song? I was disappointed in my favorite singer’s performance. Katharine just seemed to fall flat this week. Kinnik looked clownish to me in her cowboy outfit and while her song was fun, Simon said she looked like someone performing at Disneyland (I have to agree). Lisa did just okay, however, I still marvel at her maturity to handle all this so young. Melissa…each week, I like Melissa a little more. She sticks to what is best for her voice, country, and to me, hers was one of the best performances. Heather – what was she thinking trying to out sing Mariah Carey? Even Paula said it was a big problem. Brenna had the disco look, but lacked the oomph of Donna Summer in every aspect. Simon said it should change from Last Dance to Last Chance. Little Paris – God, can I just hear her and not see her? She’s got a good voice, but she looks like a little girl performing in a grade school pageant. Ayla didn’t wow me, but wowed the judges – even Simon. Kellie – I am so tired of her homespun “never wore a pair of shoes before” self. I know the judges like her, but enough – please! Mandisa – wow. What a voice she has. I think she is going to sail through each round and possibly be the one to beat. My choices for goodbye this week are Brenna (and good riddance) and Kinnik.
