Brent is fired on The Apprentice
Every week on The Apprentice Donald Trump shares some words of wisdom. I’m sure he picks his words when the shows hit the editing room so it’s pertinent to what happens in that episode, but they’re interesting nonetheless. In Week 4 Trump is talking about advertising and that the name of the game is to keep it simple. If it’s too complex your target audience might not understand the message, or might just miss it altogether. Gold Rush understood this idea when completing this week’s task – creating a billboard for a new cereal (Post Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch). I think that maybe Synergy was trying too hard to show how creative they were, or how smart they were by using a slide show presentation to the Post executives (that Donald shut down pretty quickly because it was awful). Ultimately Gold Rush is the winner and Synergy has to go to the boardroom.
In the boardroom things start out as usual. Trump and his assistants are asking questions of the candidates. When Trump asks Brent how he thought Tammy performed as Project Manager, he said Tammy “stank”. These harsh words opened the floodgates, and the rest of Synergy let loose on Brent. Brent got very defensive and nasty. Finally Trump fires him on the spot, not even forcing people to come back into the boardroom. In Trump’s words (and my opinion as well) Synergy will be a much better team without Brent.
When we saw that short interview in the taxi with Brent, I felt I was back in middle school. His attacks on the rest of Synergy were juvenile and off the mark. He sounded like the person who was upset because everyone else got invited to the movies or a party except for him. I don’t think many people will disagree with Trump’s decision to fire Brent.
