Brooke Burke wins season 7 of Dancing With The Stars
Almost the entire first hour of part 2 of Dancing With The Stars was a waste of time. Yes, it was fun to look back yet again at season 7 and yes, it was even nice to see the eliminated celebrities back to dance again. Misty May didn’t dance (she has just been cleared to put weight on her foot and walk) and Toni Braxton didn’t dance either (Tom Bergeron said she just had some minor successful surgery). I seem to recall in previous seasons the eliminated celebrities just doing a few seconds of their routine, not an entire performance. Then again back in the day the finale was only an hour long. We also got to hear Alicia Keys perform, accompanied by some dancers who were not pros associated with the show. I’ve said time and time again that I don’t want to see other dancers, I want to see the show pros.
I did enjoy Jeffrey Ross’ roast of the three finalists. He had some really funny lines (like when he asked how Warren could dance for 8 hours a day for three months and still be so out of shape). I wouldn’t have minded seeing some more of this type of filler. This segment was not a waste of my time.
For anyone who’s counting, at 10:10 pm Eastern Time we finally got to see some dancing from the finalists. Up first were Warren and Kym, dancing the Hustle. It was a nice performance but he certainly isn’t the strongest technically. All the judges had for them was praise – praise of his charisma, irresistibility and inspiration. They got 9’s across the board.
Lance and Lacey were up next, performing their Jitterbug routine from the semi finals. It was an energetic performance and the judges liked it. All of them said that he deserved to be in the final but Carrie Ann pointed out that he had a small stumble with a lift. He got a total of 28 for this routine.
I found it interesting that the male celebrities performed dances that aren’t in the traditional ten Ballroom and Latin dances while Brooke performed a very traditional dance, the Viennese Waltz. Her performance was absolutely beautiful and moved even Carrie Ann to tears. There were no questions after hearing the judges’ comments that she would get a perfect 30 for the routine.
After a commercial break the producers didn’t make us wait too long to find out that Lance and Lacey finished in third place. Lance said that Joey Fatone will never let him live it down (since Joey finished in second place a few seasons ago).
Hannah Montana herself, Miley Cyrus performed before a time filling chat with the eliminated celebrities. Finally we get the announcement of the champion of season 7 of Dancing with the Stars: Brooke Burke with her partner Derek Hough.
