Bruno Tonioli from DWTS
Bruno Tonioli is the judge of both the British television series “Strictly Come Dancing” and the American version of the show, “Dancing with the Stars.” Over the span of his career, Bruno has proven to be both a talented dancer and choreographer. His skills have allowed him to work in film, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, and television shows. Because of his expertise, Bruno has worked with stars like Elton John, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, and Paul McCartney.
Bruno started his career as a dancer. If you look closely at the “I’m Still Standing” video by Elton John, you will see Bruno in it. The video was directed by his fellow “Strictly Come Dancing” judge Arlene Phillips.
He choreographed moves in the videos “Giving Up, Giving In” (Sheena Easton), “New Day United Nations Video for Kosovo” (Wycliffe and Bono), “Please” (Elton John), “This Cowboy Song” (Sting), “Give in to Me” (Michael Jackson), “Steaming Windows” (Tina Turner), “One Hit” (The Rolling Stones), and “Hope of Deliverance” (Paul McCartney). He has also been involved in choreography for Tina Turner’s Foreign Affairs concert tour as well as Duran Duran’s World tour. As for films, Bruno has worked as a choreographer in Ella Enchanted, What a Girl Wants, Little Voice, and Dancin’ Thru the Dark.
Bruno has been a judge with “Dancing with the Stars” since its inception in 2005. He along with fellow dancer/choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba and head judge Len Goodman (who is also the head judge on “Strictly Come Dancing”) rate each season’s celebrities based on their fancy footwork. Bruno is known for his demonstrative exclamations in which he throws his hand in the air after a great performance.
What’s up next for Bruno? In addition to his very busy schedule (he often flies back and forth from America to England during the filming of “Strictly Come Dancing” and “Dancing with the Stars”), Bruno will work with Arlene Phillips on a new dancing show for the BBC called “DanceX.” The idea behind “DanceX” is to find the best dancers in the UK and form a new dance troupe.
