Cameron Mathison eliminated from Dancing With The Stars week 8
I guess one of the good things about tonight’s results show is that there will be only two more to endure before the end of Season 5 of DWTS. I hope that ABC revamps the format before next year, because these shows just seem to go on and on and on….
As always the judges begin the show by selecting an encore performance. No surprise tonight – the judges picked Helio and Julianne’s Quickstep to that song from the Jim Carrey movie The Mask. It was every bit as high energy and exciting as last night’s performance. What a nice job.
Gloria Estefan was the musical guest this evening. The first song she performed was a Spanish language song that was nice but the name of which I missed. Two couples danced along with her but I think they came along with her (they did not look like any of the professionals who have competed on this show previously). She came out with the dancers and danced a bit, but it was very reserved and relaxed, not the high energy dancing we’ve seen from her in the past. Her second song was Conga. Maks, Julianne, Karina and Mark danced along with her and they were just awesome.
Good news for ABC and for the show. Dancing With The Stars was nominated for best reality television show for the People’s Choice Awards.
This week Jimmy Kimmel returned with one of his short comedy skits. He’s back to being a waste of my time. That’s all I’ll say on this.
We were also subjected to the time fill known as the Stars of Dance. This week featured the work of choreographer Fatima Robinson. A professional with some great credentials, for sure – she choreographed movies like Dreamgirls; choreographed the Academy Awards; and is a music video director and choreographer for artists like The Black Eyed Peas and Aaliyah – but I still think this segment is a time filling waste of time.
Speaking of wastes of time – how many times can Samantha Harris interview the remaining celebrities backstage?
Not revealing a bottom two this week (again), the two couples “in jeopardy” this week were Cameron and Edyta and Jennie and Derek (again, not both in the bottom two). In the end it was Cameron and Edyta who were sent home. Damn….I really wanted to see him dance in that thong.
