Carol Alt
Carol Alt is a supermodel who has been on the cover of many magazines over the years, but this season, you can see her on television, competing against other stars on Celebrity Apprentice.
Carol was born in East Williston, Long Island, New York on December 1, 1960. Her father was a New York City fire chief and her mother did both print and runway modeling before getting married. One of Carol’s sisters, Christine, is a plus size model. Carol attended The Wheatley School. She went to the Hofstra University for a little while, but quit to pursue modeling full time.
The 5’ 10” beauty began modeling for the well-known Elite agency when she was just 16 years old. Her first big break in modeling was when she was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 1980. But, she became very well known when she was featured on the cover of the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated in 1982. All in all, Carol has been on the cover of more than 700 magazines. She has been labeled the “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by Playboy Magazine and the “Next Million Dollar Face” by Life Magazine. Elite owner John Casablanca himself dubbed her “the model that started the Supermodel trend.” The web site Askmen.com placed her at #5 on their “Top 10 Models of All Time” list, behind Kathy Ireland, Christie Brinkley, Gisele Bundchen, and Cindy Crawford.
Carol, not content with just modeling, decided to go into acting as well. She has been in over 50 movies, television series, and miniseries in America and overseas. In 1998, she filmed the Italian mini-series “Pensando all’Africa” (Thinking of Africa) for ten months. She has appeared on many television series such as “Thunder in Paradise,” “King of the Hill,” and “Diagnosis Murder.” She was featured in many films including Private Parts (1997), Snakehead Terror (2004), and A Merry Little Christmas (2006). Carol has won three Telegatto awards, the Italian equivalent of the Emmy award.
Carol has also been on several posters and calendars. She has made two workout videos. She has also written two books – The Raw 50: 10 Amazing Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Snacks, and Drinks for Your Raw Food Lifestyle and Eating in the Raw: A Beginner’s Guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Looking Younger the Raw-Food Way.
Carol was married to hockey player Ron Greschner from 1983 until 1996. She is currently dating Russian hockey player Alexei Yashin, who is 13 years her junior.
