Cassie is the winner of Season 2 of American Princess

So who was the winner of Season 2 of American Princess?  Cassie was named American Princess in the coronation ball in the season finale of the show.  Was anyone surprised?  Actually I was a bit shocked.  I thought of the remaining three contestants she would have been the least likely to be named American Princess.

The finalists are given a challenge to write and present a speech as to why they should be named American Princess.  Prince Michael Sapieha, the undercover prince from the dinner party episode, acted somewhat the part of voyeur and watched the speeches from afar. I’ll give the judges credit, because they did not just let the girls go with giving some warm and fuzzy speeches.  They called them on a few things and asked one final tough questions – who was least suitable of the other two contestants to be American Princess.  I didn’t expect this question in the least.  To date the judges seemed to be harsh with their criticisms of the contestants in private, but not to their faces.  At least that’s my take on what I saw.  This put the girls on the spot.  If they say no one, then they are indecisive.  If they name someone else then they are bitchy.  Jasmine and Clarissa both name Cassie as least suitable while Cassie names Clarissa.  Jasmine later cries and said that was the bitchiest thing she ever did.  Cassie was actually understanding and said she wasn’t mad at either girl.  Maybe the judges saw this in the behind the scenes film and it played a role in their decision.

In another nasty surprise Catherine meets the girls outside of the ball and says she only has two invitations.  Clarissa is sent home packing.  She was quite upset and rightly so.  I’d be all mad if I was dressed up in a fancy Jacques Azagury dress with my hair and makeup done all ready to go to a ball.  Jasmine and Cassie continue on in their horse drawn carriage.

The ball is actually a masquerade ball and they are given masks as they enter.  They are met by the judges and Paul gives them the challenge to make a toast and both girls do pretty well.  The judges and Prince Michael watch the girls from afar and they all comment how Cassie is glowing that night.

Prince Michael reveals himself and then announces that Cassie is named American Princess.  Catherine Oxenberg puts on her the dinky $5,000 diamond necklace that is part of her prize and the fancy borrowed tiara and she dances with Prince Michael.

I wonder what Cassie is going to do now that the show is over and she has an actual British title?

Unfortunately, the ‘Title’ this girl has won is worth nothing. Lady (or Lord) of the Manor titles can be purchased by anybody (yes, anybody) very cheaply, and only allows the holder to use the name on their paper stationery. They are pretty much worthless and will certainly not gain you access to high or Royal society. These defunct paper titles are available for purchase in their hundreds and do not have any land (or other) rights attached to them. Seems like American Princess is a bit of a cheapskate show, out to fool the contestants and viewers. This show is currently airing in the UK. It is embarrassingly awful.

Whoa, that was really unexpected. I wasn’t able to watch the last bit of it but I am still surprised nevertheless. I thought it was really shocking.

I watched a couple shows of the first season and the entire second season, and I enjoyed the show, though why any American girl would care to go through all of that nonsense is beyond me. I was hoping Cassie would win from the beginning – and I was not disappointed.

clarissa should have won what a travesty she was the only person who actually reallty wanted to win and it meant something to her she was gracious and lady like the whole way through and never moaned or was a bitch it s a big fix if u ask me x

I only saw the last show of season 2 and got the picture on the whole thing… A lot of royalty with titles and no money, rich guys who want publicity and American girls seeking adventure like all those movies you grow up on. It was obvious Cassie would win…I’m not an American, I’m not British but I’ve seen a bit of the world, I have internet and TV…and European “royalty” would pick a “white” girl anytime…and the “Prince” being Polish (a cast off royalty too) it wasn’t surprising (read up on Poland at least since the 1900’s)…

One of the other 2 should have won they were better for the part even if it is just a title for show. Also, I think it was cruel and unnecessary to eliminate a girl at the entrance of a bowl…very “American movie” style…and very “British”….

I liked the guy from a “bankers” family and I didn’t like the so called prince (even though he quoted one of my favorite films)….

Being a reality show it just shows movies do show some truth of reality as to people’s character….

Sorry – but It just makes me mad and I had to say it.

I totally agree with you, Idit. I thought it was completely unnecessary to eliminate someone a few meters from the front gate of the castle, and it was an extremely heartless thing to do – also to ‘name the contestant you think least deserves to win the title of american princess’.

As for the girls, I was a tad confused as to the reason why Jasmine’s hair, in every formal event, was minimally seen to (were they made to do their own hair?).

Anyway, it was entertaining to watch, but cruel indeed.
Like any reality show nowadays, I suppose.
