Christopher Knight
This season, you can see Christopher Knight appearing in his third reality series – NBC’s Celebrity Circus. While it is a stretch from the other reality series he has been in, a veteran actor like Christopher should have no trouble rising to the challenge of stunts such as the German wheel and the flying trapeze.
Christopher was born in New York City on November 7, 1957. Because his father Edward was an actor, the family moved to Los Angeles when Christopher was three. Edward sought out auditions for Christopher and his older brother Mark as a way to pay for their college educations. By the time he was seven years old, Christopher was appearing in commercials for such products as Tide, Cheerios, and Toyota. He also made guest appearances on “Gunsmoke” and “Mannix.” It wouldn’t be long before he would land the role that would follow him his entire life – that of Peter Brady on “The Brady Bunch.”
Starring as Peter Brady was a double-edged sword – yes, Christopher became a part of pop culture, but it made him an instant, although reluctant icon. After “The Brady Bunch” ended, Christopher appeared in an ABC Afternoon Special and episodes of “One Day at a Time,” “The Bionic Woman,” and “Happy Days,” but most of his roles for the next 20 years would be confined to playing a Brady. Christopher appeared in “The Brady Bunch Hour” in 1976, The Brady Girls Get Married in 1981, A Very Brady Christmas in 1988, “Day by Day” in 1989 (in which he reprised his role as Peter Brady), “The Bradys” in 1990, and even the big screen hit The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995. In 2001, he appeared with other Brady alumni on the game show “The Weakest Link.”
Most of Christopher’s adult years were focused not on Hollywood, but on business. He started working in the computer field as an account sales manager for Martec, Inc. in 1988 and Christopher was named their Employee of the Year. He moved on to the vice president position of design marketing and sales at New Image Industry and eventually became the co-founder of Visual Software. He was also in sales at Adesso and Integrated Micro Solutions where annual sales raised from $2 to $63 million in a year. In 1998, he and two associates formed Eskape Labs, which developed many first-to-market video devices.
By 2003, Christopher had made the decision to return to the entertainment industry. He appeared on ABC’s 50 Anniversary Celebration then did a cameo of himself in the film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. In 2005, he appeared in VH1’s “The Surreal Life.” It was on that show that he met the woman that would become his third wife, winner of America’s Next Top Model, Adrianne Curry. America watched the couple fall in love on the show. That led VH1 to create the reality show “My Fair Brady,” which chronicled their relationship after The Surreal Life as well as their subsequent marriage. In 2006, Christopher and his older Brady brother Barry Williams appeared on “That 70’s Show.” He remains close to much of “The Brady Bunch” cast.
Christopher is the spokesman for the Ab Lounge exercise machine as well as the spokesman for the American Counseling Association’s “Healthy Skin, Healthy Outlook” campaign. From 2002-2003, he was the spokesman for the National Consumer League’s “AD/HD Campaign to Inform the Nation.”
