Cody Linley
At age 18, Cody Linley will be the youngest dancer on this year’s “Dancing with the Stars.” His partner will be two time champion Julianne Hough.
Cody Linley was born in Lewisville, Texas on November 20, 1989. Cody’s mom, Catherine Sullivan, an acting coach, and his dad, Lee Allen, a hairdresser, are divorced. However, his parents live just minutes apart and both were active in raising Cody. Cody has one brother (Chad) and three stepbrothers (Ben, Scotty, and Jason). He attended Degan Elementary School, Huffines Middle School, and then Lewisville High School. He also attended “Options for Youth,” an independent study program for teens who act.
When he was nine years old, he made his acting debut in “Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack,” a made for TV movie. Cody also made two guest appearances on “Walker, Texas Ranger” as the character Griffin Pope.
In 2000, he appeared in three feature films: My Dog Skip, Where the Heart Is, and Miss Congeniality. He followed that up with a role in the made for TV movie “Beyond the Prairie, Part 2: The True Story of Laura Ingalls Wilder.” In 2003, he appeared in both the independent film When Zachary Beaver Came to Town and the mainstream film Cheaper by the Dozen. He appeared on one episode of “That’s So Raven” in 2004 and the films Rebound in 2005 and Hoot in 2006.
In 2007, Cody landed a role that would make him a household name – at least in the homes of teenage girls. Cody got the role of Jake Ryan in Disney’s “Hannah Montana.” He also appeared in 2008 as the online co-host of The Disney Channel Games, along with Brian Stepanek and Meaghan Jette Martin. Cody has one film, Forget Me Not, which also stars Brie Gabrielle from “Hannah Montana” and Carly Schroeder from “Lizzie McGuire,” in post production. He will also be the voice of Joe Hardy in the upcoming video game The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft. Rumors are that he may also have a role in The Cheetah Girls 3 film.
In addition to television and films, Cody has also appeared in commercials for Zaxby’s. He and Disney star Roshon Fegan (Camp Rock) like to make Youtube videos under the name of the Ro and Co Show. He was romantically involved with Disney actress Demi Lovato, but when the two split, they remained close friends. Rumors linked him with his “Hannah Montana” co-star Miley Cyrus after she was spotted leaving his apartment, but he says they are just “very, very close.”
In his spare time, Cody likes to play both the electric and acoustic guitar. He also likes to play basketball – even playing briefly on his high school’s team.
