Cry Me a River!
Next week is the season finale and it comes not a minute too soon! This show has been stinky since day one! I hate not seeing all the talent that can make it to the next round, I hate the way the contestants are placed in the audience a la “Let’s Make a Deal,” I dislike that there are so many children acts, the judges border on ludicrous, and worse yet, if you cry, you make it to the finals.
Guess who was in the top two final acts for last night’s voting? Surprise, surprise, it was the people Piers yelled at - David and Dania, Quick Change. But his yelling was justified. David told the judges they have an hour-long show they do and each time, they have brought the same 90-second act to the stage. But Piers made Dania cry and this season at least, that means at automatic pass to the finals. It happened with The Millers, it happened with Celtic whatever, and now it has worked for Quick Change. Their same act won out over Nathan Burton – who did what Piers asked in bringing something new and exciting to the stage each week. So Nathan has been in the final twice now and is still not making it to the finals. Frankly, if The Passing Zone doesn’t win next week, then I could care less who does. This is just the most ridiculous show and now we are saddled with a second season starting in January.
I guess I should get off my soapbox and mention the weird and whacky talent winner tonight. It was some Woody Harrelson looking dude who could catch boiled eggs in his mouth from amazing distances. The way I feel right now, I’d rather watch a hour long show of him doing that than most of the acts that made it to the final.
