Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann - new ABC reality show
In order to capitalize on the success of Dancing With the Stars and the popularity of all involved, ABC has created yet another dance reality television program. Originally named Dance X, the network has changed the name to Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann. (It’s a six episode series set to air this winter.) Each of these judges from DWTS will lead a team and serve as both coach and choreographer. The viewers will vote as to which team did better, and the named coaches will have to vote someone off their team in a loss. Drew Lachey, second season champion of Dancing With the Stars will host the show.
ABC has several open casting call dates listed on their web site and are looking for talented male and female performers who can sing and dance. Auditions are scheduled in Nashville; Santa Monica, CA; and New York City.
I have vague recollections of previous “war competitions” – namely Ice Wars, the publicity driven event created by CBS to capitalize on the Nancy Kerrigan – Oksana Baiul after the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Just a thought – and it’s me wondering how original this idea really is?
