Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann Premieres!
I don’t think it was a surprised to anyone that this show followed the tried and true format of “American Idol.” They held auditions in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, looking for contestants who could both sing and dance. They would choose 30 to go to Hollywood for final auditions, and then select 14 from that group. Carrie Ann and Bruno will divide up the 14 into two groups.
The New York auditions went well. The show seemed to focus more on the talent rather than the oddities like “American Idol” often does, but then I kinda missed that. Poor Sasha could dance, but not sing and she ended up leaving the stage in tears. Host Drew Lachey tried to fool everyone by appearing on stage as D. Diddy, but please – I knew it was him almost immediately!
The LA auditions brought some freaks out, with a stripper, gorilla, and chicken appearing on stage. But there was good talent – Carrie Ann and Bruno are going to fight over who gets Zack, who Bruno called a “mini Justin.” He was pre-med, but I don’t see this guy going to dental school any time soon. At first, there weren’t a lot of girl standouts, but Mariel blew them away with her voice and Elizabeth charmed Bruno. Angela was a good dancer, but when she channeled Cher on stage, it was like nails on a chalkboard. She did make it to Hollywood, but they just couldn’t do anything with her voice.
In Nashville, there were three Louisiana friends who auditioned – Kelsey, Megan, and Mary Alice. While Kelsey and Megan made it to Hollywood, Mary Alice didn’t. But, in the end, it was only Kelsey that was chosen in the final 14. Phillip got Carrie Ann and Bruno dancing, but almost blew his chance in Hollywood by fading into the background. He did make it to the final 14 though. Maxx was cute – had a little of the Michael Jackson voice going on and they loved his dancing. He made it to the final 14 as well.
In Hollywood, the contestants worked with Bruno, Carrie Ann, and other dancing and singing coaches. All 30 performed together, with individual solos. When the final 14 were chosen, of course, there were some broken hearts. Carrie Ann hated to let Quandrell go and Anthony, who made Carrie Ann cry with his singing in New York was cut as well.
The final 14 are: Allysa, Bradley, Charity, Chris, Corina, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Lacey, Mariel, Marquis, Maxx, Philip, Tony, and Zack.
