Dance Wars: Team Bruno Loses Tony
It has been a tough, tough two weeks for Bruno. Last week, he lost Charity and this week, he found his team on the bottom again. But first, I must call out the producers of the show, or whoever chooses the music. This week was Country, but they really, really blew it. There are so many great country songs out there – both contemporary and classic, but they choose stuff like “Life is a Highway” and “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree?” You HAVE to be kidding me? Country? Those songs are considered country?
Team Carrie Ann prepared for the week by riding the mechanical bull. Their first performance was to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and they did well, except apparently Chris is now the King of Mic Mishaps. This week, he was not able to put his mic in his holster, but at least he said it was his fault. Team Bruno prepared for the week by wearing big pink Styrofoam cowboy hats – could this show get any hokier? Team Bruno’s first performance was to “Life is a Highway” (still makes me cringe just writing that). Carrie Ann said Philip and Zack were a bit lacking on the vocals.
After a plug from the new Bachelor Matt Grant (the new season starts March 17th) and a song by special guest Taylor Swift, we saw the second performances. Team Carrie Ann danced to “Big Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” and Team Bruno did “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” Geesh, country those are not! Anyhow, both teams did fairly well.
Then the bad news – the team that lost last week’s vote. Again, it was Team Bruno. Already down to five, he had to cut someone else. It was down to Zack and Tony and I really didn’t even see a need for them to perform one more time. You had to know Bruno was going to pick Zack and he did, so Tony was sent home. Hopefully next week, Team Bruno can break the losing streak.
