Dancing with the Stars: Rocco DiSpirito is eliminated

This will probably be the only time in this blog you won’t read me complaining about the recap portion of the results show on DWTS.  I missed it last night.  I actually appreciated the recap.  Like I said, this is probably the first, last or only time you’ll read those words from me.

After the recap we see the encore performance for this week – Lance and Lacey’s Tango.  Len called him Sir Dance A Lot last night.  I think perhaps Len was inhaling a bit too much helium or something backstage.  The dance was good (as far as the Tango is concerned, but I don’t like that dance) but didn’t they tie with Brooke and Derek for the top spot?  I would have rather seen that dance that made Bruno want a cigarette.

A funny bit next.  A take off on the political commercials.  Brooke Burke does one that is “Cody Lindley is a baby” while Warren Sapp had the attack ad against Rocco – “never trust a skinny chef.”  This is funny.
Oh, here we go….some riveting backstage interviews with Maurice and Cheryl and Cody and Julianne.  Get some new questions Samantha.  Please.  Maybe we can request that ABC take questions from viewers via email to ask the celebrities.

The first guest performers of the night are an all male Flamenco troupe named Los Vivancos.  I think this is an obvious attempt by ABC to pander to the female audience.  I have one thing to say to you ABC – DON’T STOP.  I think they need to be on the results show every week.

After a recap of the two week leader board we have the first elimination announcements.  Susan and Tony and Lance and Lacey are safe, while for the first time this season we find out who are the couples in the bottom two – Rocco and Karina are the first ones named.  Before the actual commercial we have another political ad, this one against Brooke Burke – “Say no to hot chicks who can dance” paid for by the rest of the cast of DWTS.  Again, a funny bit.

Commercial, then another spoof ad – Maurice Green is always happy so he must think this competition is a joke.  This one courtesy of Lance Bass.
One of my favorite parts of last season was on again, the Ballroom Kids competition.  This week it was Mitchell and Jessica from San Diego performing the Cha Cha versus Kirill and Hannah from Staten Island performing the Samba.  They are both so cute and really talented that I wouldn’t be able to pick a winner.  The judges picked Kirll and Hannah to move to the finals.

Before commercial a spot sponsored by the DWTS accounting Department – about Cloris Leachman and the fact that she bribes judges, steals props, and delays live TV– “hasn’t Cloris Leachman cost us enough?”  After commercial a spot sponsored by Toni Braxton claiming that “Lance Bass is probably crazy.”

The second guest performer of the night, Ne-Yo, performed his song “Closer.”  He didn’t seem to do much singing at all, but more dancing and performing.  It was ok, I guess.  I’d rather see more of the ballroom kids perform.  Going to commercial we see the spoof of an ad against Toni Braxton saying she’s been too successful.  This ad was “sponsored” by Rocco DiSpirito.

We find out that there will be four new dances performed next week – first cousins of the Latin dances on the show according to Len – the Hustle, Jitterbug, Salsa and West Coast Swing.  Len says since it’s going to be a challenge for the pros as well since they don’t normally do the judges will be looking at performance more than technique.

Another political ad – “Susan Lucci is a filthy beast” – sponsored by Cloris Leachman.

Samantha goes backstage for another stimulating interview of the two couples who know they are safe.  Fun.

Elimination time – after all the drama we find out that Cloris and Corky are in the bottom two with rocco and Karina.

“Warren Sapp wears a fat suit” – a political ad sponsored by Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) airs before commercial.

After the final commercial we find out what we’ve all been waiting for all hour – Rocco and Karina are going home.  I thought it was sweet how Rocco was holding Cloris’ hand during the elimination and how she went right to him to say goodbye.
