Dancing With The Stars: Seven Couples Left
Tonight was the first time the celebrities had to perform two dances. Granted, one of the dances was a group number not scored by the judges but you had to figure that there would be some nervousness on the part of the contestants. If there was I didn’t see it tonight.
Here’s my take on tonight’s show.
Jason and Edyta. Tonight they danced the Cha Cha Cha, and while it was good it just wasn’t anything special to me. If someone asked me what I thought of it I would say it was a nice performance. The judges liked the performance to a point, but Bruno pointed out that he messed up on some timing and Carrie Ann thought he kind of looked awkward. He ended up with a 24 out of 30.
Shannon and Derek. Well, after watching tonight’s Rumba I had to do some research to see if these two were a romantic couple off the floor as well as dance partners. I read an article online that seemed to indicate that these two are involved romantically. I say good. I thought to myself that if they weren’t dating right now they should be dating because they seem like a really nice fit. The dance was good and the judges liked it but criticized her lack of hip action again. She ended up with a 24 out of 30 as well. Samantha Harris was grilling her backstage about her relationship with Derek, and Tom Bergeron made a joke of it saying that on the weekend Samantha interrogates inmates at Gitmo.
Marlee and Fabian. Let me begin by saying how amazing I think Marlee is on the show. She’s dancing better than people who have full hearing but I think it’s starting to really become a problem for her. Tonight she and Fabian performed the Mambo, and I had hoped it would be a good dance since Fabian is a former world Mambo champion. It was a really rough performance in my opinion. She looked fabulous but kind of awkward in the dancing. The judges also thought she struggled with her performance tonight and Bruno said that timing and musicality is probably most important in the Mambo and she just had problems with it tonight. She ended up with a 21 out of 30 for her score.
Cristian and Cheryl. Cristian is back, and I’m sure a lot of ladies are happy about his success in the Foxtrot tonight. He looked great. This was the first dance tonight that made me smile while I watched it. Len said it was his best dance so far, and Carrie Ann said it was fantastic. He scored 9’s across the board for a total of 27.
Marissa and Tony. Marissa is really starting to come into her own now, and I think she has a really good shot at making it to the finals. Their dance tonight was the Viennese Waltz and she did a great job. It was smooth and classy and made me smile. The judges liked it, and even crusty old Len said she looked like a princess. She was just thrilled to death to have earned 9’s from Bruno and Carrie Ann, and ended up with a score of 26 out of 30.
Kristi and Mark. What can you say? Kristi is the celebrity to beat, at least in terms of judges’ scores. She and Mark performed the Jive tonight and got a perfect 30 that was well deserved. An interesting fact she made known tonight was that she was born with club feet. That makes her skating accomplishments all the more amazing. It has to affect her in dancing but you’d never know it. Samantha gave her the chance to say that her learning to dance is more difficult than she lets on because of her physical problem but she wouldn’t give in. She said that with determination and hard work you can overcome anything and accomplish your goals.
Mario and Karina. They performed a Rumba that would have been better suited in a hotel room. Bruno even got bleeped when describing what was happening on the floor. I will say that this dance suited Mario very well. The judges loved it, and Carrie Ann said it was better than good sex. However, they did do a lift so Carrie Ann marked them down. They ended up with a 28 out of 30, getting a 10 from Bruno.
The group number was a country style dance that was more of an organized chaos than an ensemble number. It was fun, don’t get me wrong, just really frenetic.
It’s anyone’s guess as to who is going home. I’m going to say Marlee. I hate to say it, but that seems reasonable. She’s the weakest dancer left among the group.
