David and Elvis expelled on the Greatest American Dog

Wow, I cannot be any more upset here than I am about David and Elvis being eliminated this evening.  Laurie manipulates the paper on the dog hoop for Andrew, she gets told about it and she is still on the show?  How is that fair?  Yes David and Elvis were not the strongest competitors but they played by the rules.  What about his departure?  He could of generated controversy after being stabbed in the back by Laurie.  But he did not.  He took the elimination with grace, thanked the judges, Elvis and even his fellow competitors who really never warmed up to David for a great time on the show.  While Elvis didn’t win the Greatest American Dog, he definitely has a kind hearted master who is very deserving of Elvis.

Tonight was the first night on the show that felt like there was some rhythm on the show.  I did expect the show to be a little slow for the first couple of episodes until the personalities and inner conflict start to come out.  This evening we had friendships that turned (Laurie selling out David for not having Elvis on a leash in the Best in Show challenge), kiss and make-up moments (Elvis playing with Tillman after previously bighting him the previous week) and a potential romance (The potential romance between Travis and Flora.).  Did anyone notice that Beth Joy did listen to the criticism that the judges gave to her last week about dressing her dog.  I think this show is still only going to get better.  My bet is the love for Laurie and Andrew is going to drop to new lows.

The theme for this evening was “Team Work” and for the “Golden Dog Bone” challenge” the contestants were broken up into teams of 2.  As a team, they had to direct their dogs to maneuver around obstacles to untie a tangled leash.  The winning team of the “Golden Bone” award consisted of: Travis / Presley and Brandy / Beacon.  My wife really thought Travis was such a gentleman after giving up the suite to Brandy.  Myself, I was waiting for a little controversy over this because you knew that both of them would not be staying in the same room, but I was proved wrong.  Flora should take notice of that.  Laurie and Andrew were nominated to spend their time in the “Dog House”.

The “Best in Show” challenge was a relay race called the “Fast and Furriest”.  For this competition the dogs would be timed on the following activities

Catching a Frisbee, Jumping through hoops, Pushing a wheeled cart, Navigating up and down a Teeter-Tot and then navigate through a maze, Running through a set of tubes and forming a dog sled team where 1 dog sits on the sled and the others pull it.  Since Travis and Brandy won the “Golden Dog Bone” challenge they each became a captain of a team and had to pick who they wanted on the team.  Team 1 consisted of: Travis/Presley, Flora/Preston, JD / Galaxy, Beth Joy/Bella Scarlet.  Team 2 consisted of Brandy/Beacon, Ron/Tillman, David/Elvis, Laurie/Andrew.

I was really impressed with the leadership that Bill displayed for his team.  He really came thru for the team with his guidance and especially the help he gave to Beth Joy and Bella Scarlet with teaching Beth Joy how to guide Bella Scarlet through the tubes.  Team 1 won the competition with a total timed score of 2:52 compared to Team 2’s time of 3:01.  The bottom three for this competition consisted of: David/Elvis, Ron/Tillman and Laurie/Andrew.  Of course what would judging be without some controversy?  As I said earlier Laurie totally back stabbed David by calling him out as the only owner having a leash on his dog (even though is was agreed he should) and then back it up by bringing out the dog biting incident from the previous week. I thought for sure we was going to go especially because she manipulated one of the hoops by making the tear bigger for her dog and ending up on the bottom three.  But what do I know; David and Elvis got expelled from dog school.  Guess that’s Reality TV for you.

Personally I am a fan Ron and Tillman. His dog is so cool, but I don’t really think they will win the show. I see Travis and Presley, Bill and Star as the main competitors.

Not only was Elvis absolutely adorable and I was sorry to see him go, but I was very, very sorry to see David go as well! I have a big crush on him!!! Love his connection with Elvis, his personality, his sense of humor, and how emotional he was at the end of the show when he talked about his connection with Elvis. David, you are my kind of man. I don’t know what your situation is, but if you are single and available, please contact me!!! I am very serious, I am very single, and I am very attractive! (seriously … I don’t want to post my picture here but will gladly mail it to you). Please contact me at: fafaluco@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you!

No, what’s reality TV for you is people being so gullible.

      1. The paper in the hoop was supposed to be SOLID without any holes but the contestants were given PERMISSION to make it larger if they wanted to. If you look at the scene with Laurie practicing with Andrew you will see the same size hole and same hoop as when they competed. The scene with Laurie looking at a hoop with a smaller, triangular hole had nothing to do with anything. I suspect it was thrown in for effect.

      2. The judges asked the contestants why Elvis was kept on leash so much. Laurie was the only one willing to tell the truth. The others are all spineless dolts who talk about each other behind their backs. Laurie is the only brave one. So she wasn’t throwing David under the bus. Nobody, including David perceived it that way. I suspect the judge’s comments about it being “dirty” were added in later.

      3. If it really was so horrible and hypocritical then you will see the other contestants confronting Laurie about it once they get back to the house, especially Beth Joy. I bet you won’t see that footage. Why? Because there is none.

    5. potsysmom Says:

I don’t think that we’re gullible. If you’re a fan of Laurie and Andrew that’s great. I think the point many people were making was that Laurie made the hole bigger. Beth Joy didn’t. So in many opinions (mine included) that was an advantage.

The whole leash thing. What I didn’t like was how willing Laurie was to send Elvis under the bus. Call it balls, call it courage, call it self preservation, whatever - what I took offense to that she broung up Elvis and his “bad behavior” as a way to deflect the judges from her and her Andrew. It’s a competition show, so everyone for themselves, but I was surpirsed to see it from her ESPECIALLY with David and Elvis. It appeared from the way we saw it on TV that she and David were friends. Competition or not I won’t do that to my friend. She could have phrased it differently, like we thought Elvis was so full of energy and such that it was our group decision to keep him on a leash to keep him under control, not because he has bad behavior and bites other dogs. That’s my issues. Plus you could see the judges didn’t like the fact Elvis was on a leash -go ahead and just put salt in that wound. There was a nicer way she could have expressed her point. The judges aren’t dumb (at least I hope not) and would have figured out that four dogs off leash, one on leash that there’s a problem and they didn’t like that at all.

I won’t disagree with you Newsflash Smith that contestants are sneaking around with comments. I think the people who have written about this show have issues with how she said it because to me as well it looked as if it was every person and dog for themselves and we’ll just throw them under the bus if it saves our own skin.

    6. Newsflash Smith Says:

Sigh. That’s exactly what the writers want you to think. You guys have it all wrong about the paper. The paper didn’t have a hole at all. Beth Joy made her hole small and rectangular. Laurie made her hole larger in a starburst. But BOTH made holes. Trust me on that. Well, don’t trust me, lol, who cares, but you will find out the truth later. And so what about the hole. Beth Joy’s dog ran around every single hoop and she had to take her back and lure her through. There really was no comparison between the performances, Andrew did much better.

We don’t know how Laurie said what she said or why. I think they were all being drilled about Elvis being on leash and nobody wanted to speak up. Laurie finally did, but that doesn’t signify throwing someone under the bus. That signifies telling the truth. The bottom line is an aggressive dog should have been expelled the minute any bites occurred. It’s really ridiculous how America is so quick to condone it.
