Down to the final contestants on Grease
The finals of Grease: You’re the one that I Want had Max and Austin going head to head for the role of Danny and Laura and Ashley going head to head for the role of Sandy. As I’ve said since the beginning I think Laura is right for the role. Not that Ashley wasn’t great tonight. She just has this air and level of sophistication that I don’t get when I watch Laura. Whether or not she is, she portrays this innocent and trusting demeanor that I think works really well for the role of Sandy.
Personally I think the role of Danny is a toss up. Either Austin or Max could play the role well and fill the house. The judges went with Max as their pick for Danny. Austin just has this polish and professional manner about him. You get this feeling watching him that you know each and every day he’s going to show up and give 110% on stage, whether he has the flu, or a fight with his girlfriend, or whatever. You would never know it looking at him. And maybe that’s his biggest flaw. You don’t see the real Austin – the emotion we saw when he described himself tonight as a “fat 10 year old kid”. You could tell that those memories brought up strong feelings. I just didn’t always see that on stage. The caresses seemed planned, the moves all choreographed.
I think America is going to go for Max and Laura for the lead roles, but who knows? Did you ever think Jerry Rice would come in second on Dancing With The Stars? We’ll find out next week if the judge’s opinions hold true and it’s Max and Laura heading to Broadway.

I really think Austin and Ashley would be exciting together in Grease, they would make it seem different from the original Grease, a completely new experience…. I hope so.
