DWTS: Anything Can Happen on Live TV

It can, and it did when Marie Osmond fainted on Dancing With The Stars.  This happened before she heard the judges comments.  I thought Tom Bergeron was going to join her when he yelled to go to commercial!   I’m thrilled to say Marie joined the cast at the end of the show and seemed to be none the worse for wear.

Back to the matter at hand – tonight’s performances.  We will begin with the Samba; and the first out of the gate were Marie and Jonathan.  I thought the performance was entertaining, all the elements of the dance, including samba rolls were present, and what a thrill to hear Latin music for a Latin dance.  It was, unfortunately, a samba in slow motion, tastefully done, playful and Marie had a costume on that was Latin, but not slutty.  I would have given them 9’s, unfortunately the judges didn’t agree, and they landed in the bottom two.  Mark and Kim, who joins them at the bottom, did a samba that was very hard to recognize as a samba.  It was very entertaining, and Kim looked great as Jeannie; Mark’s impersonation of a nerd had me turning to The Big Bang Theory on CBS during commercials. Jennie Garth seemed awkward and uncomfortable during much of her dance.  I have to agree with Carrie and Len that it was a rough performance; they gave her pretty good scores, though.  Last, but most certainly not least was the samba danced by Mel and Maks.  This was her best dance yet and absolutely the best samba of the night; 29 for her which takes her to the top spot.

With the exception of Jane and Tony, the couples who performed the rumba were all on their game.  I know the judges have a “love affair” with Jane Seymour, but in my opinion their interpretation of the rumba was  mature and elegant, certainly not the sensual dance the rumba should be.  Jane always presents the picture of the reserved English woman.  Reserved English women don’t rumba.  Sabrina and Mark, on the other hand, came on like wildfire.  Their dance was right on the money.  In fact, Tom said they should “get a room.”  Helio and Julianne could get a room on the same floor.  I disagree with the judges who said that the performance was mechanical.  If that’s mechanical, things must be hoppin at Midas Muffler.  I agree that Cameron is probably the most improved celebrity of the lot; but I couldn’t find any chemistry or passion between him and Edyta.  The judges gave them scores just about in the middle.

The plot thickens, and the only way to keep your favorite in the race is to vote.  I myself don’t vote, because my vote is the Kiss of Death. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
