DWTS – Fab Five? I think not.

The performances tonight on DWTS left me with the question, was 2 dances, plus a fifteen second solo too much for most of the performers?

Dance# 1.  Ballroom – Cody and Edyta – Contrary to the judge’s opinion, I think Cody did a fine fox trot.  He has matured so much in his dancing; and I think Edyta was just the medicine he needed to get him straightened out.  Julianne is a champion, but not the taskmaster Edyta is.   Brooke and Derek.  I don’t think the tango was her best dance, to me she seemed awkward and uncomfortable.  Perhaps the perfect score from last week spooked her a little.  Carrie and Bruno liked her; but Len is judging her in the same manner he would judge a professional – not fair Len.  Just as Cody keeps improving, so does Maurice.  He and Cheryl did the quick step.  His form was questionable at times, he did a lot of running, but it was his best ballroom to date.  Lance and Lacey also did a fox trot, and he is on the improvement track also.  Why does he always flash those goofy expressions at us?  Warren Sapp is no James Bond, music or not.  What Warren Sapp is, is a fine football player who is a fine dancer.  His tango was really really great!  Way to go Kym.

Dance# 2  Latin.  Didn’t I tell you Cody grew up!! He and Edyta did a mighty fine Mambo.  His solo was right on the money, even when he landed on the judges podium!  Len said that he hoped Warren wouldn’t try that move!  This performance garnered a standing O.  Broooke certainly is one hot tamale.  While her solo was mucho hoto, her mambo was not particularly outstanding.  The judges like her, though.    Carrie Ann is once again pandering to Maurice, get a room, Carrie!  His paso doble was not especially anything.  Stomp stomp, strut strut.  Note to Maurice – waving a cape around isn’t dancing.  Cheryl, you should know better.  Even Lance and Lacey didn’t hit the mark with their samba.  This really needed more work in the dance and in the solo.  He is starting to come around with the technique but he still needs work.  For Warren and Kym, the jive showed lots of enthusiasm and pep.  His solo was very good, and he did a nice job.

I still go with my first impression, these folks are for the most part, not up to the caliber of dancing as some of the previous celebrities.  Maybe they’re too busy, or maybe they are too wrapped up in ego.  Who knows?  This week was not the best I have seen.  If pushed to the wall, I would say either Maurice or Lance will be the ones voted off.  Probably not, as I have a record that’s not too accurate.  We’ll see.

I actually thought Brooke did a great job on her tango! She’s really talented and has a really great shot to win the whole thing. Here’s the video of the tango:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoXuoCjRi5w
