DWTS: Hoedown with the stars
Starting with the ending, the group dance, Hoedown, was actually very good. The camera work left something to be desired; but the stars really gave it a good try. My personal favorites in this dance were Jason and Edyta, and Cristian and Cheryl. The choreography by Christian Perry was energetic and held the interest of this audience at least.
Now to the individual dances. My very favorite performance tonight was the Viennese waltz performed by Marissa and Tony. She looked like a princess and played the role to the hilt. Cristian and Cheryl did a fox trot that was really very good; if he tries more often to emulate Fred Astaire, he could really be a contender. Mario and Karina did an X-rated rumba that really should have been on cable. As far as the dancing went, Mario carried it off. Of course Kristi and Mark led the pack with their “come alive jive”. That Mark does an excellent job of framing Kristi and she, herself, while not as animated as she could be, is technically flawless. Tied at 24 were Jason and Edyta with their cha and Shannon and Derek with their rum. Cha because the cha cha was missing and he kept on looking down at his feet; and rum because there was not much dancing there either - lots of posing - not much dancing. I did notice that both Edyta and Derek did some acrobatics sort of trying to draw attention away from their partners faults. I think the pressure is getting to Shannon. Trailing in scoring is Marlee. She really puts her heart and soul into her performance, but because of her hearing impairment, she is off beat a lot of the time. I can see why Fabian was the former World Mambo champion; he is fabulous and he really tries to show her to the best of her form; but in my opinion, she’s going to be the one eliminated tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, the result’s show might actually be interesting - Riverdance - Mario Lopez - Ashlee Simpson - the Kids Competition. Might actually be worth an hour.
