DWTS: no surprises this elimination night, Mark Cuban is gone
Well, there were no surprises with the elimination of Mark Cuban; it’s getting down to the wire, and money or not, if you can’t cut the mustard you’re out. Mark was an entertaining diversion, but it’s getting down to crunch time and the dancers in the group are the ones who will remain. Jane Seymour was also in the bottom for the first time, and this too is a sign of things to come. My take is that she will be next to be eliminated followed by Jennie and then Marie. This will leave us with two and two, males Cameron and Helio and females Sabrina and Mel. From this group it’s anybody’s guess. So much for my prognostication!
About the show: well, just for the heck of it I counted commercials and promos and came up with the following: 32 commercials and 14 ABC promos. (one was a public service promo for a Feed a Friend from our local station.) Somehow it seems like a whole lot more.
Jennifer Lopez was the guest performer, and her first number was complete with an elevated stage, her own dancers, pyrotechnic effects and a tummy concealing costume. Her second number grammy nominated “Let’s Get Loud”, featured the show’s orchestra and professional dancers.
Next week, the celebrities will do a group performance choreographed by Christian Perry, who you may or may not remember from both last season’s fill in and a cable show called Ballroom Boot Camp. His group performed a jive type dance that left a lot to be desired. Where is Louis van Amsdel when you need him?
Also in the “let’s fill an hour” segment was a look at how the professionals tackle probably the most difficult part of their job, coming up with a dance that will both be entertaining and technical, that will feature the celebrities’ strengths and hide their weaknesses. I found their different approaches very interesting, but the statement that really stuck was Tony’s when he said his job was to showcase his partner. Amen to that!
