DWTS: Part 1 of the Finale
At the opening of the show, the three finalists and their partners were standing together on the stage – it reminded me of a bunch of canaries in a pet store with all those yellow feathers. To really drag out the show, the DWTS contestants gave a recap of their “favorite” performances in both ballroom and latin. Brooke and Derek liked their quickstep and paso doble; Lance and Lacey (the tattoo lady) preferred their tango and mambo, and Warren and Kym favored the Viennese waltz and paso doble. Hum Hum.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Jr. Dancing With the Stars trophy. This went to the brother and sister team of Craig and Samantha who wowed the audience with their Rockin Robin jive.
The contestants did a group dance – the Samba Smackdown – in my opinion Brooke was the best dancer, Lance had the best showmanship but Warren stole the performance.
In the free style Brooke and Derek did a “strip” type jive to You’re the One That I Love from Grease. Wow, what a performance, strictly Broadway and Hollywood worthy. They put it all out there and it was spectacular!
Lance and Lacey did a “Tricky” hip hop. It was typical of their style, lots of tricks and not much substantial dancing. It was geared to appeal to the general audience, and I have to say it wasn’t too bad. However they did not get a spectacular score from the judges.
Once again Warren and Kym stole the show with lots of lifts and flying sequins and even some fine dancing. They put so much energy and physical exertion into the performance, I was even out of breath. They even did a couple of dance steps along with a modified strip of sorts.
Once the performances started, it really was a final worth watching. Who will win is anybody’s guess. My particular choice would be Brooke, so I guess she’ll lose.
