DWTS: Week 2
In the second segment of this round of DWTS, I get the feeling that someone upstairs is pushing the judges to be more nit pickers than constructive criticizers because they are really picking the contestants apart considering it is only their second dance. Granted, some of the contestants belong in the audience, but this is supposed to be “non”professional dancers dancing with pros, not an audition for a Broadway musical.
That said, it seems to me that Carrie Ann has something for ex football players, did you see her when LT went before the tribunal, ok he improved but it was not the end all be all.
The dances – Salsa – In my humble opinion, David Alan Grier and Kym were much better than the measly 17 the judges gave them. Belinda and Jonathan scored higher (18) and the reason for that, I’ll never know; she was all arms and shoulders and crooked black stocking seams and not much feet. Maybe it was to toss a crumb to poor Jonathan after last week. Chuck and Julianne really look wonderful together, like Barbie and Ken, dancing, well that’s another thing; he does pose well though. Now to the nitty gritty of the “real” challengers Shawn and Mark, her training in gymnastics serves her well in all but hip action. She has great footwork and crisp turns, but she really seemed to be uncomfortable. Have no fear, she will get better. Melissa and Tony were wonderful, you know, he might actually have a contender here; hope so, Tony deserves to be in the final for all his years of dancing with the “older” stars.
Quickstep – This is one of my favorite dances, and with the exception of Holly and Dmitry, Denise and Maks (how this pains me) and Steve and Karina, tonight was no exception. Dmitry is really cute, but Holly has horrible dance posture and mucho stumbles; looks like last week was a fluke. Denise was better than last week, and that’s not saying much, her posture is awful and she is stiff; it was because of Maks they got a 21. Steve was as good as Denise and he is awful and has a foot injury. Methinks he’s going to be the one leaving now. Unless, of course, Steve O who didn’t show because of a back injury will be the one. The judging was based on his dress rehearsal, and I have NO idea what the dance was they were supposed to do, the salsa was mentioned, but it looked like a dream sequence someone who was coming down from a bad “trip” would have.
Ty, on the other hand, while not getting a really good score, looked as though he was starting to get the drift of dancing. He looked good and was actually smooth, hard work does pay off. Speaking of hard work LT came a long way from last week, he actually kept in step, nice going Edyta. The quickstep of the evening belonged to Lil Kim and Derek, I know Gilles and Cheryl got much better scores, but Lil Kim was magnificent. The only problem was the major distance she kept from her partner; other that that I think she would have scored all 10s. Speaking of Gilles and Cheryl, who in the name of heaven picked out their music? It was a miracle they could keep time to it. They do have a lot of flair, and their scores showed it – 3 9s!
Ok My prediction for the one to leave tonight, will be between Steve, Belinda and Steve O. We’ll see.
