DWTS week 3: Jivin’ right along
Tonight’s Dancing With the Stars began with one “jive to end all jives” with Sabrina and Mark taking you back to the 50’s Rock and Roll and then some with their energy and acrobatics. For one moment I thought I was at Arnold’s from Happy Days. Their dance set the mood for the night, unfortunately, Mark Cuban put a big fat kibosh on that mood. He wasn’t in step with his partner, and I hope he has a good fan base, because thumbs down on that dance. Now Mel and Maks, while not as good as Sabrina, were very good - too much arm waving for me, though. Floyd does a great job with the jump rope, can’t say as much for his footwork in the jive. I think he’s concentrating too much on the upcoming bout. Happily for the fans of this dance Helio and Julianne finished with a stellar performance; not up to their previous performances, but stellar nonetheless.
I just love the Tango, when it’s done correctly. Cameron, however, did not do a stellar job with the tango; he gave it a shot, but the beat passed him by. How does one spell redemption? Well, for Jenny and Derek, redemption is spelled tango. They were fabulous; good posture and great footwork. Does anyone remember the Munsters? Was that Herman or Wayne Newton dancing the Tango? What an awkward performance; never mind the performance, where did he get that braid? Jane Seymour reminded me of Gloria Swanson from Sunset Boulevard with the costume, makeup and hairstyle. Her tango was perfection personified. What can you say about Marie Osmond? She is an A-1 entertainer who doesn’t do too bad of a job dancing the tango either!
Just for one moment will somebody tell me where on earth does ABC get the music used for these dances? We should be demanding a new musical selector who has some idea of the type of music that enhances the performances, not this silly crap.
