DWTS: What a night!

What a night it was on DWTS, we had a lost wig, a lost earring and a lost contestant.

As was previously reported, Misty May-Tranor suffered a devastating injury Friday at practice.  While we weren’t informed of the extent of the injury previously, the mere fact that she and Maks weren’t introduced, and didn’t walk down the stairs gave you the indication that the injury is serious.  Sure enough, after promising to talk with her through the entire show, she was finally introduced and came out on crutches about 5 minutes before the show was over.  We found out that her Achilles tendon was ruptured and she was going to have surgery the next day.  This is a devastating injury for an athlete, she’s a gold medal winner in beach volleyball, and the recovery period is long and difficult.  We wish her all the best.  However, will someone stifle Samantha and her inane questions?  How do you feel about letting your partner down?  What can you say to your Partner?  and on and on.  Anything to fill 5 minutes.

Now to the show:   Let’s begin with the jive.   Susan and Tony visited the world famous Rockettes to get a few tips for her on how to kick and flick - she should have gotten a few tips on how to keep in time with your partner.  Once again she looks lovely, but the dance was at best mediocre.  Now, if you want to see a first class jive, the performance to Rock Around the Clock by Maurice and Cheryl was the one to see.  It was his best dance so far, a really good jive danced in time to the music.  Cody and Julianne are the cutest couple; energetic, frantic, typical teenagers, but, the dance, sometimes it was very good and sometimes it was very wild.  I know, it’s a jive, but still in all, let’s get some control.  Finally, we have Cloris and Corky.  I don’t know what to say, it was fast walking, with a wheelbarrow thrown in.  Cloris knows how to play to the audience; but I feel sorry for her partner.  He must have been told it would be only for one performance and was given a big paycheck.  How embarrassing - this guy has really earned his money.

Viennese Waltz - I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Lance and Lacey actually were not too bad.  They really tried to adhere to most of the rules (still inserted their “personality”) and actually looked normal.  The music was yuk!  I don’t even think it was waltz tempo, but if they can keep up the appearance of normality, they could go pretty far in the competition.  Now, with Rocco and Karina, when they got to the real waltzing, it was ok, but otherwise the mishmash fell flat.  Another show dance.  Good grief, who do Toni and Alec think they are, Lance and Lacey.  Come on they are better than that atrocity they tried to pull in those awful costumes.  Risky! Forget it! It was criminal.

I will never cease to be amazed at Warren Sapp.  For such a large individual, he is so smooth and so light on his feet, he is a joy to watch.  As Len said, he is giving those skinny people a run for their money.  Kudos to Kym for bringing out the dancer in the football player.  Brooke and Derek are technically the best of the crop of this year’s show.  If she has the fan base, she could take home the prize.  She also looks pretty fine in those costumes.  You would never think that she has 4, yes 4, children!

Please folks, have a heart, release Cloris, let her go home and rest!
