Earl Wins Survivor Fiji
I was disappointed last night with the Survivor finale because the best player, Yau-Man, did not win. Earl, who had had an alliance with Yau, told Cassandra he was fine with them voting out Yau. Fortunately, Yau won the first Immunity Challenge, automatically putting him into the final four. Yau and Cassandra talked about voting out Boo. Boo tried to convince Earl to vote out Dreamz, but it didn’t work and Boo was eliminated.
Dreamz said he still planned to give Yau the immunity idol if he won it and I think both Yau and Earl truly believed he would. The challenge was to lie on a plank. The survivors had to hold on while the plank was at an angle and water was run down it. Every 5 minutes, the plank angle would be increased. The last person holding on won. After 20 minutes, it came down to Dreamz and Yau, with Dreamz winning. Jeff said the big question now - was was Dreamz going to be a man of his word and give Yau the idol?
At the tribal council that night, Dreamz sat thinking. When Jeff finally asked him to make a decision, he said he was keeping the Idol. Dreamz, Cassandra, and Earl all voted for Yau and he was eliminated and therefore the final member of the jury. At this point, I was ready to turn the finale off. I really didn’t care who won anymore. In the end, Dreamz said it was all a game and he was just playing it. He said he knew if he gave the idol to Yau, he would be eliminated. As it turns out, it didn’t matter much anyhow.
At the final tribal council, the final three were given a chance to tell the jurors why they deserved the money. Earl, who had never won an immunity challenge and never had his name written down to be voted off, said he played an intelligent game. Cassandra kept talking about how she tried to be everyone’s friend. She was just a like a filler in the final three to me. Dreamz resorted to reminding everyone about his tough life. As expected, most of the girl jurors were nice while the guys were brutal. Edgardo, Mookie, and Alex all focused on Dreamz and the lies he told them. Lisi confronted Cassandra about her shoes. I think I know where she was going with it, but the whole questioning was kinda crazy. Rocky remained relatively calm, other than cutting Cassandra off when she couldn’t answer his question about how she manipulated people the best. Boo really got all in the face of Dreamz, asking how he as a Christian man could lie about giving Yau the immunity idol. When Yau asked Dreamz why he changed his mind, Dreamz played it off as he never planned to give the idol to Yau, it was a strategic move, he was just playing the game, blah, blah, blah. The best answer was when Yau asked Earl why he didn’t take him to the final three. Earl said “because I wouldn’t win – you played the best game.”
In the end, Earl made Survivor history, getting all nine votes and won the million dollars. Earl actually said that when Dreamz said he was keeping the idol, he knew he had won the million. When Jeff asked the jurors who would have voted for Yau if he had been in the final three with Earl, six people raised there hands. So, Dreamz not only didn’t win the million by not keeping his word, but kept Yau from winning.
