Elisa is eliminated on Project Runway

Finally after what has seemed like forever (even though it was only a few weeks) we got to see a new episode of Project Runway.  Only one thing could make this better – chocolate.  And the producers did give us some chocolate in the form of the design challenge this week.

OK, not specifically chocolate, but Hershey’s products, in the Hershey’s Times Square challenge.  Tim Gunn woke up the designers at 6:00 am to take them on a field trip to the Hershey’s store in Times Square.  The designers were told they were to make an outfit of their choice using the products in the store as raw materials.  They had no budget for the project, but would have five minutes to gather up as much product as they could to use in the construction of their garments.  The store had more than just candy and sweets – they had items such as pillows, teddy bears and purses too.  This to me was disappointing in a way, because I had really hoped that the designers would be required to utilize candy in their designs, not just the outer wrapping of the candy.

Jillian was the only designer to use edible product in her design – she created a dress out of Twizzlers candy.  Of all the garments I thought hers was the most creative.  She was the only designer brave enough to try to use candy as the main material in her garment.  I was surprised that Chris did not go hog wild in creating a garment, but then again he was the only designer there who had any experience using food as the raw material for a garment.  He surprised the judges by his level of taste and sophistication in his garment.

Christian is really turning into a know it all pain in the butt.  He finished his dress early (created from the inside wrappers of peanut butter cups) and decided to go around and help the other designers.  Who did he think he was, Tim?  Kevin mentioned in his confessional interview that he really was not pleased with Christian.  I forget his exact words but had something to do with removing him from the show.

This week during the runway show I liked more garments than I disliked.  There were a few that did nothing for me (like Kit’s garment) but the ones I liked were created by Chris, Kevin, Christian, Rami and Jillian.  I did not like the garments created by Ricky, Elisa, Sweet P or Victorya.

The judges this week (with guest judge designer Zac Posen) picked as the top three designs the ones created by Rami, Jillian and Chris.  They did not like the garments created by Elisa, Victorya or Sweet P.  Their main criticisms of the bottom three dresses were that they were sad, uninspired and unimaginative.  The judges named Rami as the winner.  I disagreed with their decision.  I thought Jillian should have won based on the fact that she was the only designer to use Hershey’s candy in the design.

The bottom two designers were Elisa and Sweet P, with Elisa being eliminated.  She really showed herself to be an amazing and interesting person, because even though she was eliminated she was truly happy with her experience on Project Runway.

One thing I thought was nice was that Hershey was going to auction off all the designs and give the proceeds to the Young Survival Coalition, a group dedicated to advocacy and awareness about breast cancer in young women.

I just cannot see Rami NOT winning the show this year. Everything I can remember him doing has been flawless and just looked so much better than most of the others.
