Elliott says goodbye on American Idol
Last night was a sad night for me. It was down to three contestants – Taylor, Elliott, and Katharine. 50 million people voted Tuesday night and I was nervous as to who would be out. I also wondered why this show lasted an hour – it was about 50 minutes too long for my taste. By the end, right before the voting was announced, I felt like I was a contestant, nervously awaiting the results.
Everything I had read on the Internet indicated that it would be Elliott leaving this week. Of course, everything I read last week said it would be Katharine and she pulled off a miracle when Chris went home. After a long, drawn out fluff-filled hour, the results were finally in. And, it was close – man, was it close! The percentage of votes broke down to 33.06%, 33.26%, and 33.68%. When they finally revealed that Elliott was on the bottom – a mere .20 from going on to the finale, I was heartbroken. They did not reveal who received the most votes, but I think Taylor was 33.68% and it was Katharine who barely beat out Elliott. One final note, I was probably the only person watching this week who never even thought about Chris while I was watching the show.
So it will be Katharine and Taylor in the finale next week. Frankly, I am growing tired of Katharine, so my voting next week will be for Taylor. If he wins, will May 16th (dubbed Taylor Hicks Day in Alabama) become a national holiday?
