Episode 2 of the Mole: Liz is Executed

The first mission on Episode 2 of the Mole was located in Santiago Chile. The mission was a race to the summit. The contestants were broken down into 2 teams. The first team was named “goal oriented” and consisted of Alex, Ali, Clay, Bobby, Liz, Victoria, Craig, Nicole and Paul. The second team was called “Uphill Team” and consisted of Mark and Kristen. The challenge was a race to the top of Metropolitan Mark. If the “goal orientated” team won they would add $35,000 to the pot and if the “uphill team” won they got exemptions this evening. The catch of this mission was Mark and Kristen had a 2 person bike that they had to ride to the top and our other team had to take a gondola to get to the top. The twist was that they needed to win their tickets by playing against a soccer team from Chilethat consisted of children. They went into the competition thinking that they would win their tickets within a couple of minutes and they would be off because all they had to do was score 1 goal. To their surprise they really got their butts kicked by the kids and it took them over 20 minutes until Ali scored a goal against the kids. They eventually got to the top of the mountain to find that Mark and Kristen beat them to the top of the hill thus earning them exemption this evening.

The second mission was located in Pomaire and the theme for this one was “Find the pigs and bring home the bacon”. Once again the contestants had to break up into 3 teams of three (“ham it up team”) and 1 team of 2 (“bring home the bacon team”). The “ham it up team” had to go out into the town and find clay pigs and the “bring home the bacon team” was responsible to catch the pigs in a blanket as the “ham it up team” shot the pigs to them using a sling shot. For each pig successfully caught that would add $1,000 to their pot of cash.

The “ham it up” teams were:

  • Alex, Victoria, Nicole (Team 1)
  • Ali, Mark, Clay (Team 2)
  • Bobby, Craig, Kristen (Team 3)

The “bring home the bacon” team was Liz and Paul.

Team one performed the best by bringing back 26 pigs with Team 2 bringing back 18 pigs and Team 3 bringing back 0 pigs. In the end, the “bring home the bacon” team was able to catch 28 pigs to earn $28,000 brining the total pot to $63,000. Paul was able to also earn an exemption with him finding an exemption coin in one of the pigs that he broke. He had a gut feeling that the coin was there.

A lot of suspicions were raised during these competitions on who could be the mole. Most people were leaning towards Bobby because he was just a waste during both competitions. Kristen had to wheel him in the barrow during the second mission because he kept complaining of leg cramps from the first mission.

My money is still of Mark being the Mole. He really wanted the exemption from the first competition and really seemed to work a lot smarter than episode 1 of the competition. He worked hard for both the exemption and for winning cash during the second mission. I did find it a little suspicious that Paul just happened to have a gut feeling that the pig contained an exemption coin. If he broke it and didn’t find an exemption it would of cost the team $1,000.
