Even Kid Nation has Rumors
Even a show about kids isn’t spared for the rumors especially if it’s a reality show about them. Kid Nation will start in September featuring 40 kids left in a ghost town in New Mexico and from there they create their own government, barter and trade, live like adults and create a whole new nation. The show will have no elimination and kids will just if they want to go home. In every end of the episode the best citizen will have a reward, a pure gold star worth $20,000.
One of the rumors that showed up is the reason why they held the show in New Mexico. Apparently, the show somehow exploited the rules in child labor of the state. Instead of telling them it’s a show, they just placed in their application as a “summer camp” so there would no need to answer the labor laws of the state. But producer Tom Forman explained to the media that they have selected the ghost town in New Mexico because of it’s proximity to the studio. Bonanza City, NM is just 20 minutes by car from Santa Fe.
The other concern of course is on the kids. People have been asking how these kids will fare in these harsh conditions on their own. On the trailer of the show, you would notice that the only adults are the cameramen and the host of the show. But it’s not really that. Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President assured the public that there shouldn’t be any concern for the kids since they will have all the help that they will need. “You had nutritionists. You had paramedics. You had psychologists. You had a full support staff around to make sure … as we like to say on “Survivor,” they really weren’t alone on the island.”
