Favorite Top Chef Episode
Someone asked me recently to name my favorite episode of Top Chef. I really liked them all, so it’s hard for me to pick one. I have to admit that a favorite of mine from Season 1 was the event catering challenge – the one where Dave, Stephen, Tiffani, Harold and Lee Anne catered a wedding for a couple in San Francisco. This challenge was probably one of the toughest.
Lee Anne was the leader for the event catering challenge and she designed a very complex and complicated menu that did not lend itself to a catering menu. Plus the contestants had to shop for all the ingredients late at night in a supermarket rather than a restaurant supply type store. There were several event catering challenges in Season 2 – the Korean and Vietnamese menu challenges early in the season, and then the cocktail party where the final eight contestants competed. I guess the producers thought that the event catering challenge was such a success in Season 1 they would do it twice in Season 2 of Top Chef.
