First Annual Bravo A-List Awards

Bravo held their first annual A-List awards show on June 12, 2008.  The show was hosted by Kathy Griffin. Bravo carries a wide array of art based shows in almost every category so it was fitting that they give out their A-List awards.  Tonight they gave out awards to the best in Pop Culture, Fashion, Food, Design and Beauty.

Here are the awards that were given out that evening:

“A List Female Actor” - The award was presented by Judith Friendlander and was given to Dana Delany.  The nominees included Venessa Williams, Jenna Fisher (Office) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Dana Delany (Desperate Housewives).

“A List Fashion Award” – The award was presented by Jessica Stam and was given to Anna Sui.  The nominees included Anna Sui, Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler and Tory Burch.

“A List Reality Drama Queen” – The award was presented by the Real Housewives of OC.  With Bravo being a very “Gay” friendly channel I was expecting to jokingly hear Christian Sirano’s name.  But seriously, the award went Tila Tequila from A Shot at Love.  The nominees included Lauren Conrad (The Hills), Ramona Singer (Real Housewives NY), Omarosa (Celebrity Apprentice) and Tila Tequila.

“A List Reality Drama King” – The award was presented by the Real Housewives of NY and was given to Christian Sirano.  The nominees included Piers Morgan (Celebrity Apprentice), Christian Siriano (Project Runway Season 4), Spencer Pratt (The Hills) and Evil Dick (Big Brother 8).

“Chrysler Design Innovation Award, honoring the WII Fit” – The award was presented by Simon Doonan and was given to Andy McDonald.

“A List Actor Male” – The award was presented by Molly Sims and was given to Jon Hamm.  The nominees included Alec Baldwin (Thirty Rock), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), John Hamm (Magnet) and Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy).

“A List Chef” – The award was presented by Jerry Springer from America’s Got Talent and Tom Colicchio from Top Chef.  The recipient of this award was Jose Andres.  The nominees included Jose Andres (Washington, DC), David Chang (New York City), Suzanne Goin (Los Angeles) and Michael Psilakis (New York City).  I almost fell of the couch when Kathy asked Tom Colicchio if he was really a chef.  She challenged a cook-off between Tom and Jose to see who was the better chef.  The judges for this were previous Top Chef contestants.  We soon found out that this was just a joke because she dropped the food when bringing it over to the judges.

“A List Funny” – The award was presented by Margaret Cho and was given to Rain Wilson.  The nominees included Rain Wilson (The Office), Sarah Silverman (Jimmy Kimbel Live), Steve Carell (The Office) and Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report).

“A List Restaurent” – The award was presented by Rocco Disparito and was given to Daniel Boulud.  The nominees for this category included Daniel Boulud (Bar Boulud), Joey Campanaro (Little Owl), Art Smith (Table Fifty-Two) and Matt Molina (Osteria Mozza).

“In Memoriam” – well not actually what you think.  It as really for people that are “Dead” to Kathy Griffen.  I was ready for something all serious when I realized that this was just a joke and a very funny one at that. Some of the people mentioned included Dr. Phil, Mrs. Phil, Church of Scientology” and George Bush.  I do have to research a little about Kathy and the Church of Scientology because they were the butt of a couple of jokes during the show.

“A List TV Show” – The award was presented by Tyson Beckford and was given to “Thirty Rock”.  Nominated shows for this category included Thirty Rock, Mad Men, Gossip Girl and Weeds.

To wrap it up, the show was pretty good.  I think we will see the Bravo A-List awards back again next year.
