The designers are in Paris and must create a couture gown. The problem is they only have two days to do it. Couture is based on handwork, so two days really pushes the designers. They purchased fabric from Reine, each having $375 to spend. Tim hated Kayne’s dress design, Laura concentrated on the collar, Michael was in way over his head, and Vincent bragged that he had contour training. I personally hated the fabric Jeffrey used, but then I am no designer.
On the way to the judging by Catherine Malandrino, Michael’s dress got hit by an egg someone threw. Catherine judged each dress and gave the cards to Tim to carry back to New York. The New York judges got to see the models walk the runway in the dresses. Unfortunately for Laura, her collar fell flat on the trip back to New York. The judges loved Uli’s dress, as did Catherine. They also loved Jeffrey’s dress, noting that he took the most chances with his design. No one really cared for Jeffrey’s dress or Michael’s dress. They all seemed to think that Kayne tried to hard and had too much going on. They all thought Laura’s dress looked old.
In the end, Jeffrey was the winner, but in winning, lost his immunity. The loser and the designer to be sent home was Vincent. I thought they judged his dress rather harshly and perhaps the only thing that saved Michael over Vincent was the sympathy vote for the egging.
