Here are the facts. 1. The Production company lied to the local pastor about the episode. 2. The “priest” is a former Catholic priest who was hired as an actor. 3. This was an entertainment show, not a Sacrement of the Catholic Church. 4. The Production Company is threatening to sue the parish and Diocese if the true nature of the event is revealed.

Also, I did some research into the whole Godparent issue (see a link in the post) that only one person is needed to serve as a Godparent in the Catholic Church. If the show was accurate (as they described her), the Godmother is a devout, practicing Catholic.

This is interesting….anyone know if he is assigned to a parish or is he “freelance”. And if he is freelance, is he really a true priest since he has no one to “obey” as in one of his sacred vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

The priest was not an actor but in a priest for hire. His name is Father Rich Hasselbach and he has his own website. http://www.fatherrich.com/

I am curious about how Gene could be a godfather when he is Jewish. I am sure that it might have been for the benefit of the show and thea tin actuality there is a christian godfather.

I live in Old Bridge, and am familiar with the family portrayed in this episode. There are a few things you should know;

1. Old Bridge is very middle class
2. The friend of Gene’s (Tony Roman) last name was changed.
3. Tony’s daughter is neither married nor has a child
4. The school scenes (safety patrol) were filmed on a Saturday.
5. The “priest” performing the “baptism” was an actor.

So, that’s what counts for “reality” TV – a totally fabricated baptism.
