Gene Simmons Family Jewels episode 6: Sophie’s Slumber Party
The second new episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels featured Gene as chaperone for Sophie and her slumber party. Shannon is under the weather so she tells Gene that he needs to watch the girls because she promised Sophie that she could have some friends sleep over. Gene thinks he’s a cool and hip father so he’s up for the challenge. First up – the video store. The girls want to go by themselves but Gene offers to drive the and pay for everyhing with his credit card. So the girls say ok.
Side note – wouldn’t Gene have been paying for it anyway since Sophie doesn’t have a job? But again, let’s add some drama. When he takes them to the store he can see those vultures better known as teenage boys who are eyeing up his daughter and their friends. Gene thinks that teenage boys are predatrs and should keep their distance from his Sophie. That’s what he said at the beginning of the show.
As I hinted Sophie and her friends run into Christian and his friends at the video store. I guess that one of the girls likes Christian so Sophie tells them they are having a sleep-over at her house but “don’t come over.” OK, I’m a 16 year old boy, with the testosterone flowing through my veins. Some attractive girls tell me they’re having a sleep-over and I’m NOT going to try and stop by? On what planet? Fantasyland?
The girls are watching movies when they get a text from Christian that the guys are outside. They text back telling them to come around to the back of the house. Of course at this exact moment Gene hears something and we see him creeping around the house while the girls sneak the guys into Sophie’s room. Gene keeps sneaking around looking for problems and ends up at Sophie’s room to check on them. They guys hide and Sophie is successful in keeping Gene out. The kids decide to head downstairs after that.
After hanging out for a while the guys leave and Sophie’s friend Jen ges with them. Sophie doesn’t want her to go, but since Christian invited her and she likes him she decides to go. Mistake. The guys ditch her and she sends a “help me” text to the girls later on. They can’t all fit in Sophie’s little pink car so they take Gene’s keys and his larger SUV. He figures out they are on the move (sees the directions on the computer and no girls in the bedroom) so he goes to follow them, only to find out they have taken his car and he has to drive Sophie’s toy car.
All’s well that ends well. Gene runs into Jen at The Putting Edge and she’s crying so he forgives her. He has a “talk” with Sophie telling her that she can ask him or tell him anything and he’ll help her. He takes the girls out for food and gives them a lecture that they should never trust boys. And the next morning when Shannon asks what happened at the party the night before Gene, ever the cool father, doesn’t say a word.

Actually I think the entire family gets paid to be in the show so that would mean she does have a job albeit not in the traditional sense.

True Robert, but any and all money made in the show probably goes to the parents with some type of allowance to the kids.
