Going to the Beach
The designers each received a surprise package tonight that contained sunglasses, a Frisbee, and a beach postcard. Their challenge tonight was to build a beach cabana. There were three teams: Team Tahiti (Felecia, Andrea, and Michael), Team Miami (Elizabeth, Matt, and Erik), and Team St. Tropez (Ryan, Goil, and Carisa). The teams were supposed to be inspired by their destinations.
Carisa and Ryan immediately started butting heads. She wanted to shop, but he wanted her to pick the fabric. He should have let her shop because his furniture ended up looking like grandma’s house, not a beach cabana. Of course, her fabric colors were also from grandma’s house, so maybe they are more alike than they like to admit. Todd felt Team Miami’s colors weren’t “Miami” but they stuck with them.
Unfortunately for Miami, the colors didn’t work. I really didn’t like the curtains either. Maybe it was just because the room was so small (they did an indoor/outdoor cabana) or because the wind kept blowing the curtains in. Team Tahiti had the best cabana, but they forgot one important part – the roof! They had originally planned for one, but decided to leave it open. What, so the swimmers could burn? St. Tropez had a great frame, but that was about it. Goil did a good job on that – the judges were impressed. Team Tahiti won, so they were safe. Of the two remaining teams, Erik was safe because he had immunity from last week. They told Goil and Carisa they were safe, so it came down to Ryan, Elizabeth, and Matt. Matt was told he was safe, but Ryan was told to go. The furniture just didn’t work, but it must have been hard working with Carisa, so I feel for him a bit.
