Hammertime: Teaching the Kids to Give

The newest “Hammertime” episode started with Hammer, Jeremiah, and Stephanie going to a charity auction for Relief, Inc. I felt sorry for Hammer when his framed photograph only went for $50, but Stephanie helped the contribution by paying $300 for a peddle car for Sammy.

However, both Hammer and Stephanie felt the kids were spoiled. They were used to a yearly family vacation. Booby wanted to go to Japan, Jamaris wanted to go to the Bahamas, and Sarah wanted to go to Africa. Hammer got tired of the yelling and fighting and decided to teach the kids a lesson.

He made them go with him to Stockton, the foreclosure capital of the U.S. (didn’t know that!) to give food to 400 families. Working with the Feed the Children organization, Hammer had all the kids and even Marv out there helping to distribute the food. However, when a reporter pointed out to Hammer that some people waiting in line for hours for food, Hammer fought back, asking him what he himself had given lately and that he wanted to focus on the positive instead of the negative.

The episode ended with all the kids saying what they were thankful for at the dinner table. Hammer surprised them by telling them he had decided where to vacation – Hawaii!
