Heidi and Kristine fired on The Apprentice LA

Thanks to the magic of TiVo I was finally able to watch this Sunday’s Apprentice.  At the very end of the show something came to me.  The final four contestants are all from Arrow Corporation.  How many times in the series did The Donald trash Arrow in favor of Kinetic in general (and Heidi as his “superstar” specifically) to have the Apprentice come from the second class team?

The task this week was to come up with a sales and marketing pitch for Trump’s newest Las Vegas property.  He disbanded the teams and pulled up stakes at Tent City, as all the contestants are now living in the mansion.  It was interesting to watch how the contestants paired up, and even more interesting was the fact that Kristine’s decision not to work with Heidi might have cost her the Apprentice.  I’m not saying that Kristine and Heidi working together would have been a winning combination, but we’ll never know because of her decision to try and take Heidi out now rather than meet her in the final task.

James and Stephanie really set themselves up as the contestants to beat.  They worked really well together and did an awesome job at the presentation for Trump.  Kristine and Nicole really fumbled at their presentation.  Maybe it was the computer snafu that caused them to give such a rough presentation, or maybe it was lack of preparation or chemistry.  I blame Kristine for not waking up Nicole when she took a nap.  That strategy would have worked wonders if she didn’t screw up the phone number on the brochure.  Since Nicole was asleep she couldn’t take responsibility for that major error.  Plus maybe Nicole’s set of eyes would have seen the error and would have prevented them from losing the task.

The interaction between Frank and Heidi in the boardroom was so interesting.  Frank is definitely rough around the edges, but not someone to take lightly.  He’s going to fight to the death for what he wants (no matter what it is) and right now he wants to be Trump’s Apprentice.  Heidi was really shaken and I don’t think she’s ever been up against a force like Frank in any of her previous boardroom appearances.  Plus she was always Trump’s superstar, so he had a favorable impression of her.  The other members of Kinetic certainly didn’t have Frank’s instinct to go in for the kill, and Heidi was not able to defend herself.

Heidi was fired because she said that she took responsibility for the bad presentation and Trump agreed it was a reason why they lost.  He fired Kristine solely for putting the wrong phone number on the sales brochure – a number that didn’t even belong to the Trump organization – which would be the kiss of death in sales for his new property.
