Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum is a well-known supermodel, television host and producer, actress, fashion designer, and singer. She is the current host of Bravo’s popular reality show, “Project Runway.”
Heidi was born in Bergisch Gladbach (a small city outside of Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on June 1, 1973. She was encouraged by her friend Karin to enter the modeling contest Model ’92. The finals were aired on the popular German talk show Gottschalk. Heidi was declared the winner on April 29, 1992 out of the 25,000 contestants that entered the contest. She was offered a three-year modeling contract with approximately $300,000 U.S. dollars. After graduation from school, she accepted the contract rather than going on to fashion design school.
Heidi walked the runway for the first time in 1997 at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. By 1998, she was the first German girl ever to be featured on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Now, Heidi’s cover resume is quite extensive. She has been featured on the cover of such well-known magazines as ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Vogue Magazine, and Marie Claire.
Heidi decided to venture into acting in 1999, making her first appearance (as herself) on the ABC show “Spin City.” Since then, she has been on shows such as “Sex and the City,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Cursed,” and “Yes, Dear.” In 2001, she made her movie debut in BlowDry. She has had small roles in 54, Ella Enchanted, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, and Perfect Stranger.
She is well known for her Victoria’s Secret modeling work. She has been the spokesmodel for McDonald’s Braun, H&M, and Liz Claiborne and is currently the spokesmodel for Jordache. Heidi introduced her new line of makeup at Victoria’s Secret Beauty stores earlier this year. Her first single, “Wonderland” reached #13 on the German singles chart in 2006. Forbes stated in 2007 that Heidi earned $8 the previous year, ranking her third in the top earning supermodels list.
In 2001, Heidi was named as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People by People Magazine. In 2004, she was ranked at #9 in FHM’s Top 100 Sexiest Women issue. In 2005, Maxim listed her at #57 on their Hot 100 of 2005 list. That same year, FHM ranked her at #25 in their 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005 supplement. FHM ranked her at #41 in their 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006 supplement
Heidi began her job as host and judge on “Project Runway” in 2004. For each of the first three seasons, the show received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. The new season starts November 14th.
Heidi’s family is extremely important to her. She married Ric Pipino in 1997, but the two divorced in 2002. She became pregnant in 2003 with then boyfriend Flavio Briatore’s baby. The two broke up before their daughter, Leni, was born. She married singer Seal in 2005. They have two children, Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel.
In her spare time, Heidi enjoys dancing, traveling, skiing, and shopping.
