Hell’s Kitchen: Christina Wins the Finale
Tonight was the final show for Hell’s Kitchen this season. Of course, with Matt on Christina’s team and Jen on Petrozza’s team, there was drama. Matt had several of his mini-meltdowns and Jen kept up her delusion that she should be in the final two. However, both chefs did well. Petrozza served up a menu of lobster strudel, filet mignon with risotto and onion rings, and vanilla soufflé with whiskey crème anglaise. Christina served up a beef sliders trio, New York strip steak with succotash, and a tropical sundae. Both set up really nice looking restaurants and the service in the kitchens seemed pretty even.
I felt that Petrozza ran his kitchen better from what I saw, but Christina did a good job too. Chef Ramsay said both did well and there were more kitchen highs than lows. The winner was chosen from both the diner reviews and Chef Ramsay’s opinion. As the chefs stood at the door, you could tell both were nervous, but confident. When they turned the knob and Petrozza’s door didn’t open, I felt so sorry for him. I thought he had been the most consistent chef throughout the season. And, it has to be tough for him – he is 20 years older than Christina. I thought her age might have worked against her, but Chef Ramsay said the even though she had the least amount of experience (3 years if I remember correctly), she had the most potential and he always looks to the future.

I just have a difficult time seeing her being the Executive Chef of a fine dining restaurant. I’m not saying she isn’t talented, just that I don’t know if she has the experience to do it. Petrozza definitely had more experience in managing a kitchen but that doesn’t mean he is the best chef either.
