Hell’s Kitchen: Dave Wins the Finale!
It was down to the final three on “Hell’s Kitchen.” Ariel, Dave, and Kevin each chose a covered dish and had to prepare an entrée from that country. Ariel got China, Kevin got Mexico, and Dave got India. Dave had never cooked Indian food before and was freaking out. The guest chefs were Vikas Khanna, Thomas Ortega, and Eddie Wong. Eddie thought Ariel’s sauce was watery. The judges loved Kevin’s dish except for one thing – he forgot his mole sauce. The winner was Dave, whom all three chefs voted for. Too funny – I love Dave!
Next the chefs took turns running the kitchen. Everyone did pretty well except Kevin and Ariel got into it. Each thought the other was trying to drag them down when in charge. Dave lost his mind and started cussing and kicking a la Chef Ramsay. The Kevin/Ariel fight continued when Chef Ramsay told each of the remaining contestants to pick the one chef they thought should leave. Kevin said Ariel, Ariel said Kevin, and Dave said Ariel.
As it ended up, Chef Ramsay sent Ariel home. Dave won a taste test with judges such as food critic Jamie Maw and Epicurious’ editor Tanya Steel. Chef Ramsay brought back previous contestants to serve as sous chefs for the final two. Dave picked Ariel, Robert, and Suzanne while Kevin chose Van, Amanda, and Sabrina. Each kitchen had problems – Amanda screwed up the scallops and Ariel was undercooking food.
In the end, Chef Ramsay told both chefs he was proud of them and it was Dave that walked through the door. I was so happy the one armed bandit took home the ultimate prize!
