Hell’s Kitchen: Sabrina and Van Leave
This week, we got two episodes of “Hell’s Kitchen.” In the first one, the guys let Suzanne know they were not happy to have her. Chef Ramsay flew up to British Columbia to bring back 15 local ingredients that the chefs, if they were chosen the winner, would have to work with daily. Their challenge was to make three entrees using all the ingredients without repeating. Sabrina laughed at Tennille and Ariel because they thought deer was lamb, but they blamed it on nerves in front of Chef Ramsay and guest judges Sasha Cohen and Jonny Moseley. The Blue Team won that challenge and got to meet with Mark Peele at his restaurant in LA. For losing, the Red Team got to go to a farm and shovel pig…um, excrement.
The night at the service, the teams would be presenting their own menus. While the Blue Team worked together well, the Red Team didn’t. Sabrina offered no constructive input, but kept trashing Tennille’s ideas. At the service, Ariel served up ravioli with frozen pork in the middle, but it was Van who kept getting all the attention from Chef Ramsay for his undercooked halibut. Dave reinjured his hand, but kept on going. I think he is now my favorite to win.
Van sent out raw halibut three times then Sabrina’s turned up raw as well and Chef Ramsay shut down the kitchen. No one was the winner, but each team had to come up with names. Dave nominated Van, based on the night’s performance, but said Suzanne was the weakest chef. The girl’s nominated Sabrina and Chef Ramsay sent her home.
Van stayed by the skin of his teeth, but not for long. The two teams merged together to form the Black Team. After Dave and Suzanne won the Taste It and Make It challenge (they got to meet with Season 4 winner Christina), it was time for another dining service.
Suzanne refused to “put her name” on a dish and serve it up, which ticked off everyone. Van continued to serve up raw halibut, all the time claiming that cooking fish is what he does. After Ariel burned lettuce, Chef Ramsay was so frustrated, he kicked Van, Sabrina, and Suzanne out of the kitchen then took sous chef Scott and left the building.
Tennille really surprised me tonight by taking the lead and helping Dave and Kevin complete the service. Chef Ramsay even told her “that’s the best I’ve ever seen anyone cook meat.” Wow! Chef Ramsay told the remaining three they were safe, but they needed to nominate two of the others.
Dave wanted to nominate Ariel because she was the stronger chef and Tennille and Kevin went along with it. They also nominated Suzanne. But, when Chef Ramsay questioned Tennille about if Ariel was the weakest chef, she said that Van actually was. With that, Chef Ramsay called Van forward and he was sent home.
