Hell’s Kitchen: Shayna is Eliminated
The challenge tonight was to cook an appetizer and two entrees for a Sweet 16 party. The teen, Melissa and her mom would sample the food and choose which plate they liked best.
The guys didn’t take any of Matt’s suggestions, but managed to win the challenge. Although it was very close. The guys won the appetizer dish (with stuffed chicken wings) and the girls won the first entrée (with Caribbean halibut). So, it came down to the second entrée. I think Melissa was going to choose the girl’s grilled flank steak until her mom reminded her to consider the palates of everyone who would be at the party. She chose the guys’ turf and surf entrée and they won a teen inspired reward which included riding go carts and eating sweets at Simon LA.
As punishment, the girls had to work with Francisco, the “sparkelicious” party planner. The producers tried to play up a romance between Louross and Corey, with them each telling each other “I love you,” but while Louross may really be smitten, Corey is just playing him to get ahead in the game.
The dinner party went pretty well, with some exceptions of course. Shayna took forever to make her mango salsa – even the girls complained about the amount of time she spent on it. Rosann served Melissa not a medium well steak, but a bloody one. Her mom had to wait on her halibut, which Matt overcooked, then undercooked. Bobby finally took over Matt’s fish station, but Chef Ramsay yelled at both Bobby for taking it over, and Matt for allowing him to take it over.
The comment cards were very good, so Chef Ramsay told each team to go back and nominate one person. Matt knew he would be nominated, so told them to not even talk about it, and he left to pack his bags. Rosann and Shayna wanted to nominate each other.
They eventually nominated Shayna, but Chef Ramsay called all three chefs forward. He asked Matt why he should stay and Matt said he was bullied and asked to go to the girl’s team. Chef Ramsay told him to return to the group and sent Shayna home, telling her she was a solid cook, but too slow. He then told Matt he was going to the girl’s team tomorrow, which angered everyone. But then, what could he do? Matt definitely had no friends on the guy’s team.
