Hey Paula: In the Middle of a Crap Sandwich
Tonight, the fallout from Paula’s infamous “drunk” interview needed to be dealt with. Calling a media strategy meeting, publicist Jeff decided good interviews was the best way to make people forget about the bad interviews. As Paula herself put it, she was in the middle of a crap sandwich.
She went to a gifting suite where she got free goodies for posing with items. That went well. She then went to Las Vegas to accept the Woman of the Year award from the Nevada Ballet Theatre. She was angry about the misquote of “I have never had a drink” and had a meltdown about that. She got through interviews pretty well, except the part where she couldn’t say recipient or receiving or whatever she was trying to say. At least she does have a charm about her.
Simon Cowell, Ryan Seacreast, and Randy Jackson showed up for her award, which was very nice. And Simon even had nice stuff to say. He said few had accomplished in their lives what Paula had and that she was the heart of “American Idol.” He ended with “we l-o-v-e you.” Ah, who knew Simon had a heart?
I just don’t know that this show is going to help Paula’s reputation. At the end of this show, she looks at the camera and says, “I am tired of people not treating me like the gift I am.” Uh, okay Paula.
